I ordered some Teasel thinking it was going to come in pill format. Instead I received a powder.

Teasel Root (Dipsacus asper; Xu Duan) 5:1 Extract Powder 100 gm

How do I take this stuff? Do I mix it with water and drink it?

Please help.

Extract powder? Gosh, it's a Chinese preparate.

I never knew any one who took the extract for lyme.

I took it in powder (made my own capsules) OR did tincture with WHOLE HERB myself. You can also do decoctions, but with whole herb. It worked well once, but did nothing another time.

I have no idea how to take these extracts. You go perhaps to contact the seller and ask? If it's 1stchinese, they shall help. Talk to Sara, if she's still there.

You should get an encapsulating machine and some empty capsules (gelatin or vegetarian). The most popular machine is the "Cap-M-Quick". I own that one, but I don't like it.

There's a better looking one called "the capsule machine". I did a search on froogle for the cheapest place to order it and found this page. You can get empty gelatin caps on that site too just search "Life Extension Empty Gelatin Cap 00 1000 Capsules". You can also get them cheaper I think on iherb.com . And if you're a vegetarian you can get empty veg caps "00" size on iherb.com too.

You can save a lot of money on supplements if you buy them in bulk and cap them yourself.

As for the dose of teasel extract, I'm not sure. Read on the net for the dose of the raw herb. I believe the extract you got was 5:1 which means its 5x stronger than the raw herb. So you can probably take 5x less than the regular dose, or you can experiment with higher doses.

Alternatively, you could put it in water and drink it or whatever, but no thanks! Herb extracts taste gross.

Hey Numbface...Yes Cat is right you should order the capsule maker and empty caps. It will save you $$$'s in the future as all of these herbs are far cheaper in their raw form.

www.1stchineseharbs.com are excellent.

I have a bag of teasel at home too but I have not opened it yet. I have not heard many people use it but I did meet a German guy at a lyme conference last year who had lyme for 15 years and he said Teasel was the only thing that works for him.

Having said that, he has never done any long periods on antibiotics. I follow a strict regimine from my LLMD and am doing herbs and aggressive antibiotics together.

You should try buhners protocol for lyme if the teasel does not work out for you.

Good luck
