"I just received word that Leslie Wermers, a member of Minnesota Lymefighters, died last night. For those of you who were at the ILADS meeting in S.F., Leslie was the tall, thin brunette who collected the question cards and worked at registration.
Our hearts and prayers go out to her sister, Tracie Schissel. Leslie was in the Under our Skin movie, ironically, shown at the memorial service for another Lyme victim."
Donations may be made to MinnesotaLymefighters.org in her memory."

Leslie was such a lover of life. I just had a chance to get a big hug from her two weeks ago and have known her for quite awhile. I am shocked and saddened by this news. She will always be a hero in my book and a friend in my heart. She did so much for all of us. This is a tragic loss.

I'm not sure an obit is out yet, but will continue looking.
My most sincere and heartfelt condolences to her friends and family.

This is so sad. My heart goes out to Leslie's family. This is a giant loss to the whole Lyme community.
I was glad to see Leslie's sister mention Lyme disease being used as a bio-weapon on one of the above links. This is something we all need to fight and expose so this does not happen to anyone else in the future. Human life is precious.

It may have been from anoxic encephalopathy because her partner Paula found her after she had passed away __in her sleep___ which is consistent with anoxic encephalopathy. She did not seem encephalopathic at the recent conference but it is NOT always possible to tell, I read a paper once on how subtle it can be- then again, it could have been from sleep apnea- or something else- I assume the family will let people know when they know. She and her sister were so close, it must be so overwhelming for her family.
Anyway, that is all I know at this point. She was a lovely person, just lovely.
