I guess it's called visual snow, but my eyesight has been messed up for months now. It's basically as though I can see the air, and that I have to strain my eyes to see the people or objects past it. (almosy like a mirage). I also see flashes and halos. I've been to the best nuero opthmalogists in the area, and they can find no reason for these problems. Does anybody else have these symptoms associated with lyme? I'm being treated with doxycyline right now, after being undiagnosed for a year. Did anybody's visual problems clear up with treatment?

I have occasional minor vision trouble in one eye. My opthomologist said that sometimes the lyme can hop onto the optic nerve. -- or something to that effect and it causes vision disturbances.
Good thing you went to good doctors to have it checked out.

I've had floater issues for two years since the onset of my probs.
My eyesight has not changed but I feel like I have spirochetes in my field of vision....annoying.

My eyesight has started bothering me in a the past few months. I don't know if it was caused by plaquenil or something else. I have blurry sections in my field of vision and floaters in one eye. They are mild but annoying.
I have heard from someone who said she went to few opthamologists who said nothing was wrong, but since she was definitely experiencing problems, she found one who could see a problem. In her case, some kind of shots helped.
But ?? I don't know. I'm scheduled to see an opthamologist next week.

have you been checked for diabetes?
1 yr. ago i was dx with early diabetes retinopathy, the beginning of losing my eyesight due to diabetes?
last week, she did NOT see any retinopathy that can come and go.
also lyme can go to the eyes.
have you been to lancaster, penn. to eye specialist there? outstanding recommendations!!

I had to go to the eye doctor a couple of weeks ago-
He was the most Lyme Literate doctor I have seen
I suddenly lost my vision out of nowhere-picked up the phone book and apparently lucked up by going to see him.
Like another post said he contributed it to Lyme. His partners wife has Lyme so very literate.
I was stunned. I also have constant floaters and occassional flashes of light.
If anyone is in the NC area and needs an eye doctor who understands Lyme, please let me know.

My vision has really changed, but some of it is because I just turned 50.
That said, I began noticing floaters precisely when I got Lyme. They grew worse and other vision problems came into play, like light sensitivity, depth perception problems, glaucoma-like pressure, migraines, etc.
Most issues went away with IV Rocephin including eye pressure problems. As soon as I stopped Rocephin and went onto oral abx, many problems came back.
Eye stuff comes and goes for me, but always worsens when I herx....or relapse....or flare...
It is good to have an LL-opthomologist monitoring you, especially if you start Plaquenil.

I have a form of the visual snow, only it is more like everything that I see is sand particles, or images appear as they would on the old dot matrix printers. Al of the little dots that make up the picture or grittiness, if you will.
I also have major after images. I close my eyes and everything that I was looking at stays there.
floaters, flashes, In particulair an annoying blue dot.
And for the icing on the cake, The geometric mirage vision that is supposed to be an occular migraine.
One year treatment, including IV and nothing had gottenany better in the visual area.
You're not alone.

I had similar problems...went to lyme neuro optimalogist, tested for everything, and just found severe dry eye!
IT may be co-incidental, but as soon as my co-infection, ehrlichiosis was eliminated, along with using medicine for dry eye, it cleared up! I still have not great close vision, which I attribut to being 50 years old, but the other problems vanished...hopefully forever. I am now off eye meds for dry eye!
Keep searching, but also, you must look at things other than they eye. Eye problams can sometimes be symptoms of other deeper problems with immune system, inflamation, or other things.
I would also recommend soemone to work on detox things along eith LLMD. It appears that the ones with themost success, use integrated medical approaches that target your specific individual problems.

I fix all my Lyme-related eye problems by drinking mangosteen juice, an anti-inflammatory antioxidant juice.
My eye symptoms were light sensitivity, floaters, eye muscle pain and blurred vision.
Within one hour of starting the juice, eye muscle pain and blurred vision decreased. Within 24 hours' time, my light sensitivity of over two decades had decreased by, I'd say, 80% - pretty quick results there!
I drink a little of the Ultra mangosteen brand everyday. It has 70 minerals added to it from Utah sea beds and this hardens my nails.
There are lots of brands of the juice that you can find at healthfood stores and online. Xango is the strongest, and is sold privately, tho it is actually too strong for me.
If you try it, go slowly and drink a lot of water, as it can be powerful.
Oh, and by the way, I had tested negative on all the eye tests done by a neuro-opthamologist, even tho he had to anesthetize my eyes in order for me to be able to look at light.
That's how screwy Lyme can be - we're fully symptomatic, yet may not test positive on their tests...

These are some of my most annoying symptoms and I know they are from lyme. I have been to opthomologists, neurologists, optomotrists, everyone says I'm fine.
I see floaters, random spots, halos, afterimages, and when I move my eyes too quickly I see a splash of dots. Oh and I also have blurred vision and can't look at stripes or grids they look all weird.

Some visual disturbances can be coming from the inner ear.
