onmyway,
have you read/studied my 25-30 pages of SSDI info in my newbie package below?? print them off ok, pages 114 to end of 149 pages. ***************************************
here's my suggestion on finding a lawyer besides joining DISINISSUES, disability website, shown in my above pages:
People seeking doctors in certain states might be able to get help from their state online information and support group. Over 2000 people belong to these state groups. Many of the groups are small but quite a few have 20 or more people on them.
Type your state name and lyme as one word, e.g. newyorklyme
For SC, SD, ND and WY, put a hyphen between the statename and lyme, e.g. northdakota-lyme
The groups are moderated so you have to apply, and we don't allow doctor names, but once on the group, you can ask for doctors in a certain area and ask people to email you privately. *******************************************

As Betty said, I think your best resources to find good local Lyme-literate lawyers would be through through your state's Lyme disease organization (if applicable) and through any local Lyme support groups.
The Disinissues site is great for general information about insurance and SSDI issues, and also has a "Good Lawyer List".
Disinissues also has discussion group on Yahoo where you can post questions about your specific situation and get advice about finding lawyers. The Disinusses Yahoo site also has lots of info and advice in the Files and Links sections.
Feel free to PM me with any questions about the links, etc.
Good luck!

I agree that you should talk with people in a local support group, if possible. Attorneys who have had success with CFS/FM cases in the past can also be helpful.
The one I used is now familiar with Lyme, not a big stretch, and he was on top of my case. He knew who to send me to for various testing and I never had to undergo an exam with SS docs.
I do think it's helpful to have a local attorney (or one in the area). Mine was quite familiar with the area judges and knew how to work with/around them.
Good luck!
Just my two cents.
