I have a quick question for you.

Do your night sweats occur no matter how many times you wake up and fall asleep?

I only wonder because mine seem to only happen once. If I wake up to use the restroom in the middle of the night and go back to bed, they don't happen again.

For some reason I'm looking at my night sweats as a way of my body detoxing itself. When I do sweat, it's a LOT!!!

It can be a sign of Babesia though, not detoxing.

My sweats aren't always lik ethat because sometimes I won't sweat all night and then will go back to bed after going bathroom and sweat then. Or sweat while I take a nap mid-morning, etc., or sweat all night, so it's just always different... and then some nights I don't sweat at all.

yeah, my LLMD has me starting azithromycin and mepron, tomorrow actually. My babesia test was borderline so he wants to hit it with those and see if it helps.

It's silly to think of the body detoxing itself via night sweats, I know, but hey, I'll take it. Just a pain washing the sheets all the time. [Big Grin]

If you are sweating "A lot" ....then it definitely sounds like babesia to me, though of course if you are going through something else like menopause you would have to eliminate that scenario.

I am not sure if what I have been having lately should be considered "true" night sweats or not......but I get them most often right before waking, I think.

If I regain consciousness during the night, I feel like I'm MORE likely to get them after I fall back asleep than before I woke up initially.

BUT....I actually need the opinion of you night sweat people. And I may start a separate thread about this.

Does whether or not the A/C is on affect night sweats? Because I do find that I'm more apt to get them if the air conditioning isn't on or it's hotter in my bedroom that night. But would these really be "night sweats" then?

But they do remind me of what I used to get when I was going through babesia badly, and how I would feel sort of damp in my hair when waking up.

I wonder the same sometimes.

We sleep with a ceiling fan on and the house temp can creep down into the high 60's when it's cold out because we don't have the heat on yet.

Before I got fed up with freezing my butt off, we just had sheets and a fleece-like blanket on the bed. Now we have a huge comforter on the bed and I noticed my night sweat frequency go up a LOT. Could be because I am getting too hot, but the comforter is soooo warm and cozy!!!

I only get night sweats occasionally and they are correlated with having a lot of blankets on, at least as far as I can remember. It also seemed like for a while they happened precisely at 4:30 am- they'd be violent enough to wake me up, and the 4:30 am microbe party happened 3 times one month. This disease is soooo bizarre.

I have been through being sick then becoming symptom-free then being sick again, and the night sweats only happen to me while at my sickest, regardless of the heat/blankets/warm person next to me, so I'm pretty sure it's due to illness and not just excessive blankets in general.

When I have the sweats, they are decreasing in frequency with Babesia treatment, they always happen between 2 and 4am. And they always wake me up.

My room is also cool all the time so I sleep with blankets even when the AC is on. When I have the sweats though nothing cools me down.

I go to bed freezing.

Usually wake up to use the bathroom to find I am soaking wet.

I don't sweat like that again during the night.

I am currently treating babesia.

Hugs,

Geneal

I had night sweats bigtime before being dx.
First on the top of my head around 2 am - 4 am.
My body would wake me up after a few hours sleep.

When I started Mepron for Babesia the sweating was around my neck, and my t-shirts would be wet after 2-3 hours of sleep.

About 8 1/2 months into treatment the night sweating stopped. Then came back one night very light. Now it has been gone for 6 weeks. I'm still on Mepron and Art every other week.

I've read that the Babesia cycle is 4 months, so most Dr's want 5 months treatment to catch 2 cycles.

Hope I've kicked it. But I know the road I'm on will be hard. My walking is bad, and I have a hard time getting up from chairs. I've had to crawl on the floor to get to a place where I could pick myself up. The problems started with Heavy Metal detox with DMSA. [shake]
