Hello all,

I occassionally get headaches and my muscles always ache but sometime the headaches get unbearable.

Does anyone else take advil for pain? I don't want to do any more damage to my liver but I just need it sometimes, maybe there is something better someone could suggest?

Currently taking
200mg of Doxy 2x day
Biaxin 500mg 2x daily
200mg Planquenil 2x daily
2 shots of Bicillin one in each cheek once a week (dose 2.4 million a week)
Armour Thyroid 15 mg
and a bunch of supplements, including but not limited to Probiotics, Alpha Lipic Acid, Vitamin B-12, Cordyceps, Rosa Rosesia, L-Carnitine, Milk Thistle, Olive Leaf Extract, EFA, Coconut Oil, etc.

I'm no doctor, but I truly don't think an Advil will hurt when you're taking as much drugs / supplements as you are currently. [Smile] Especially, if it's not an everyday thing.

Advil wrecked my gut and led to my many symptoms.

Also, (joint pain) I noticed that while it was a very effective pain killer, I would always hurt worse when the Advil wore off. I have since learned that NSAIDS contribute to joint damage.

First thing the doctor did was yank me off Advil.

Within a few months my pain levels had dropped dramatically. I haven't needed a pain killer in 2 yrs. The doctor focused on detox and healing my leaky gut. Change of diet reduced my inflammation and pain by 50% in just 2 weeks.

I have lyme induced rheumatoid arthritis, so no pain in 2 yrs is saying a lot.

Not that much. Two every 12 hrs. However, I had had years of abx for one thing or another and no one ever told me to take probiotics. I had been treated for H. Pylori in spring 2004. I got shingles fall 2004 and the lyme arthritis struck in 8/05.

I truly believe my gut was damaged all along and if any of the doctors would have thought about that, I never would have gotten so sick.

After taking me off the Advil, I was given some more natural painkillers but nothing was as effective. I just toughed it out and luckily, the diet change made such an improvement in my pain level, that it was bearable.

Detox has had to go super slow but it dropped the inflammation even lower. We also have killed bugs and that lowers the toxic load.

Yes, that really wrecked my stomach years ago, too.

It might be best to call your doctor's office. There may be some reasons, yea or ney, regarding your individual treatment.

Some pain relievers mess up the immune system and could block what you are trying to do.

Is your magnesium level enough? I did not see that listed. That can really help reduce pain. Fish oil, too.

Pain Management: Natural Strategies to Regain Mobility --By Nieske Zabriskie, ND

Excerpt:

Conclusion

. . .

Natural substances that inhibit inflammation and work directly on the sensitivity of the nervous system may improve the body's natural pain-reducing mechanisms.

Therefore, consuming a synergistic blend of DL-phenylalanine, turmeric, boswellia serrata, and nattokinase, which work directly on pain and inflammation, may help individuals regain mobility.

You listed this as something you are taking: Rosa Rosesia

I've never heard of that and neither PubMed nor Google can match the term.

Hmm.

Did you mean Rosea Rhodiola?

I'm pretty sure that Advil (Ibuprofen) is processed mainly by the kidneys. Tylenol (acetaminophen) is processed the liver.

Try taking the Advil with food to prevent stomach irritation. The regular dose is 2 200mg tabs every 6 hours as needed. If that doesn't help with the pain you should talk with your doctor. You should talk with your doctor anyways if this is a new/worsening symptom.

NSAID's such as Advil are definitely not safe to take with

fluroquinolones, such as Levaquin.
