Just noticed today that I legitimately have oral thrush (I assume this means, with my compromised immune system, I have systemic Candida). Won't be able
to make a doctor's appt until monday--what should I do to manage it until then.

There's an herbal medicine store a few blocks away from where I live--any natural products any of you guys can recommend? Can
you tx yeast while on antibiotics?

Yeast Cleanse by Solaray really helped me. I think it's better than Diflucan...

Avoid all sugar & most carbs as much as possible. Try to eat just protein & veggies for a while.

I don't think I'd put bleach on my toothbrush, though...

Maybe try some tea tree oil or hydrogen peroxide...?

Raintree makes some anti yeast capsules. They completely dehydrated me but everyone is different. They may work for you. I had to give mine away.

adam,

your mailbox is full.

Hi Adamm

You may want to call your doctor. You could need a prescription for Nystatin or Diflucan to get a head start on reducing your yeast. It depends on what other yeast symtoms you have.

I take on average 70 - 100 billion cultures a day (my probiotics) and alternate brands. Its not the amount of cultures but the number of STRAINS in your probiotics. Look for the ones with lots of strains in them.

Here are a few good tips

1. Take lots of good probiotics with high # of strains (yeast preventative)
2. Take Antifungals-Oregano s great (yeast Killer)
3. LOW CARB/SUGAR DIET & Oral Mouth Care
4. Detox-fiber, lemon water, baths, excercise!!

Probiotics put back all the good bacterial the abx kills off and you need to keep taking these months AFTER you stop abx.

What works for me is to take 2-3 kinds of probiotics a day, refrigerated ones are the most potent. You can get some of these at your local healthfood store, or order them online.

Renew Life Critical Care (50 Billion) 10 strains (i take this-it is great & over the counter)

Theralac Probiotic (only 5 strains)
http://www.theralac.com/

Iflora Professional Stregnth Acidophilus
(20 Billion-16 strains) doctor can order

VSL#3 is really good. I only take 1xday because it is really powerful, 225 billion cultures / 8 strains. You can actually reduce other brands when you take this.

Here are few popular HERBAL antifungals to kill yeast:

Fungal Defense-good product
Oregano Force
OREGAMAX-works really good

Olive Leaf Extract, at least 15% - 20% oleuropein. I didnt have good luck with olive leaf as an antifungal, but I still take some.

Believe it or not, yeast starts on the tongue. It is really important to brush your tongue really good every day and rinse with antiseptic mouthwash such as Listerine. Dip toothbrush in bleach and rinse off every time you use it or you can reinfect yourself!

No Carbs or sugar!--Feeds yeast.

And oregano, garlic, olive leaf extract, grapefruit seed are all natural antifungal herbs. You can google this or search on herbal websites.

Best to rotate probiotics and yeast killers every month or so if you can.

Good Luck

I agree with the others:
probiotics, no sugar/carbs, sterilizing mouth rinse, etc.

Here are a couple other ideas:
1. right after sterilizing mouth rinse chew a chewable probiotic to add good bacteria into your mouth
2. take positive active yeast
