My daughter has an appointment next week with Dr. C and I'm pretty sure from our last visit he will want to proceed with IV Abx. Just curious how he handles this. Do you have it done at home, in S'Field, etc. Who does the Abx each day? Thanks. Just want to have an idea before our visit as to what to expect so I can better prepare my D.

My kids had PICC lines. The home health care company did everything. They had a service that only inserts PICC lines and it was done at home. Then a portable x-ray company did the x-rays. Home health came here once a week to change the bandage and draw blood. They showed us how to administer the med and the first time and then we did it the rest of the time.

Our insurance covered everything because the home health care company was in-network.

Not to highjack the thread but my kids will see him in a month for their first visit.

Does he recommend PICC lines for all kids?

How old do they start kids on piccs? My DD is three and is always so tired! She is on Arithrocine 199mg M, W, F. Is use to help her but now it's back. She started treaatment a 21 mths...She got it congetally from me

babs and lym CDC pos.

Is DR C wort the money and long drive? We live in Far North Dallas.

I have a port, which I like better! My PICC got infected in four days and my old Dr did them at his office.

Now that I do oit myself...i love it..less germs and it's so easy once you learn! I ever put my own huber neddle in my port. Don't worry as long as you can common sense...it's cake! Just take notes!
