After 6 years of searching for an answer I finally got my Igenex results yesterday for Lyme and babeisis and thay were positive. I knew I wasn't crazy. My question is llmd said it was an acute infection. What does this mean? Does it mean that it's active. During my last visit before results he said he felt I probably had lyme for 6 years and was misdiagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2002. Can you have an infection for 6 years and have episodes of acute state? I'm so confused. Over the years I always had times where I felt so terrible.
This board has made me so much more informed and also made me realize that we have to be in control of our health.

Thanks Mom of boys

I've been misdiagnosed with fibromyalgia for 20 years, and have had Lyme for 25. Finally got a Lyme diagnosis and treatment this year. Thank God!

Acute can also be defined..."reaching a crisis rapidly". or.. "extremely severe".

Mom of boys, you should ask your doctor what he means by acute so you can both understand.

He may be using that word to define a particular stage of Lyme. Anything he can teach you about your condition is to your benefit.

I found through the years that what I ate made a huge difference to how sick I was and what I could accomplish.

No sugar or sweets at all was very helpful, and natural foods with no additives.

A daily multivitamin/mineral and yogurt or acidophilus is good for you too.

Some years I would do extremely well, other years I had more fatigue and joint/muscle pain, and one year my heart was severely affected. (spent most of that year in bed)

I'm so glad you have a diagnosis and can get the proper treatment before you get worse. Also glad you are seeing a LLMD.

Praying for your health and happiness. Hugs to you and "the boys". [group hug]
