Has anybody taken Doxycycline or Doryx in combination with another antibiotic? Has anyone's LLMD ever prescribed this?

I've been told that Doxy or Doryx is usually prescribed alone, but I'd like to hear if anyone has used it in combination with something else, especially a penicillin antibiotic.

I don't think the tetracyclines and the pennicillins are the best combination, though I'm sure it can/has been done.

I believe, at least with Minocycline, that pennicillins will reduce the absorption somewhat....maybe by like 30%.

I don't think it is a dangerous combination or anything, but it seems like it isn't very common, so maybe that is why.

Drugs.com has a good interactions checker.

I have heard of people combining Doxycycline with Zithromax or Rifampin.....I'm sure other people will respond with other combos.

I took doxycycline alone for 7-8 months and was not cured, although it did help.

I know someone who was on doxycycline and clarithromycin for a little over a year who has now been symptom-free for almost 8 years.

We both found the ticks on us and caught the disease pretty early.

I am currently on Doxy and Zith.

I am having a hard time with the 400mg daily of doxy(It's making me vomit)...

I have been on the zith with other combos for 6 mos. now and like it a lot.

I think the Doxy is tough on my tummy.

It's common for LLMD's to combine Doxy with something like Zith.

I was on 400mg/day doxy and Tindamax for a time; seemed to work well.
