Betty - thanks for bringing this up for answers.
Hi Zennia, Crunchy joints are common in lyme. I was told that mine was caused by inflammation and my experience seems to verify that.
Inflammation can be a result of bacterial die off either from treatment or due to the natural life cycle of the bacteria.
There are supplements that can help with inflammation. Also prescription drugs. I prefer natural supplements but sometimes they are not enough, especially when adding anything new that kills bugs so sometimes I add ibuprofen for a few days until I can get the inflammation down.
A book by one of our LLMD's called the lyme disease solution has a lot of good info about inflammation including dietary help for inflammation.
Inflammation causes pain and can cause many other problems including possibly insulin resistance so it is a good idea to get it under control.
I use bromelain, fish oil, serraflazyme and digestive enzymes on an empty stomach for inflammation but there are a ton of supplements that can help with inflammation. Be sure to check with your LLMD if you decide to take anything.
Most of my grumpiness was caused by sleep apnea but just being sick can make a person grumpy. It's not easy to adjust to being sick and having to deal with all the changes this brings.
Poor sleep for any reason is a very common cause of irritability and many with lyme don't sleep well.
You mention throat lumps. Anything that impedes your ability to swallow may cause breathing difficulty during sleep. Think about asking your doctor for a sleep study if the signs indicate it.
You are not a hypochondriac if you have lyme disease. A hypochondriac is someone who interprets normal body sensations as a sign of major illness. What we experience is far from normal and lyme disease *IS* a major illness.
Hope you feel better soon. Terry I'm not a doctor
