Hi. I am new here. I was diagnosed with lyme this past September.
I believe I have had it since June of 2004 when I found a bullseye rash on my leg, but tested negative way back then.
I have been racking up symptoms during the past four years, but in recent months the symptoms have become such that it has started to affect my daily life.
I am not currently seeing an LLMD, but recently found one and plan to see her soon.
I was put on antibiotics for 22 days back in September(doxy for 12 days and amoxicilin for 10)by my PCP and told that I was "cured".
Since last Friday my symptoms have been so bad that I have basically been in bed, curled up, trying not to cry.
The severity of my symptoms increased so much so quickly... It doesn't seem normal.
Does anyone know if this kind of thing happens? Are there patches of good times and bad times? Could the cold weather here in the Northeast be affecting me?
Does anyone know of pain meds that work for migrains and jaw/other joint pain?

I have found epsom salt baths to be a great pain reliever. It will be treatment that makes the pain go away though, but it will take time.
There can be patches of good times and bad times.

Yes, symptoms can be erratic, jump around, change in type and intensity. We all need treatment. I hope you can get to your LLMD soon.
In the meantime, this is a very good place to learn about all the different kinds of treatments people are trying. Plus reading the Burrascano guidelines can be helpful. Maybe you could experiment with some pain relief med.

Welcome to Lymenet. The abx you took were not enough to really eradicate Lyme. What they did was knock it down a bit, but now it has come back with a vengeance.
It's like with other infections when you take part of the abx rx, but fell better so stop it. Lyme has a 4 week life cycle, and that's if caught early. By now it has had time to go into other forms and also make cysts.
Seeing a good LLMD is the best thing you can do now. You may also want to read more here and begin some supplements, like a good vitamin, magnesium, Co-Q10.
Check out Dr. B's guidelines at www.ilads.org. He makes some good recommendations for supps in it.
Good luck to you. Read and learn all you can. You need to be your own advocate with this disease.

Sounds like you were way undertreated.
Yes, the symptoms can be very perplexing and pain can migrate all over the place.
You can have all sorts of joint pain, heart palpitations, memory loss, thyroid problems, neurological symptoms such as stuttering and brain freezes. The list goes on and on.
Glad you are finally seeing an LLMD. Its the only way to get lyme and coinfections treated.
Lyme Literate doctors will be very thorough and treat you usually until you are two months TOTALLY symptom free.
They also check for coinfections, which are bugs that travel along with the lyme bacteria. They can also complicate your treatment.
