Some of you might remember me. I pulled a deer tick off of my son back on Oct.6.

Pediatric office said they don't treat unless he is showing symptoms. I waited around and started doing research and scheduled an appt with LLMD.

We saw him in Nov. my son was not showing symptoms but had a cold and was sleeping more than normal. The LLMD said it could be due to cold so watch him close.

Our last appt. was a few days ago. We said he was still napping during the day more than usual so we all decided to treat with amoxy.

Is there anything that I can do to help support his little body while treatment with antibiotics? He is 3 years old.

I am giving him a probiotic chewable between dosages and trying to feed him yogurt. Is there anything else I should know? THank you for everyones time!

Jen

Is there any way you can get to Dr. J in Ct? He is the best for kids, hands down. I know there is a waiting list, but if it were me I would want to get his opinion on this.

I heard the waiting list is 4-5 months. Does the treatment he is on right now not sound right?

Amoxy is the first choice in children for an early infection, so you're doing the right thing.

Take care,

Amoxy is definately the abx of choice for kids.

My daughter had a tick on her head about 2 years ago. The only symptom she had was swollen lymph nodes in the back of her head.

Original ped. said it's a Lone Stra tick...don't worry there is no bull's eye.

I went to another ped to get a 2nd opinion. He tested her and she was negative. While we were waiting for the results he gave her 4 weeks of amoxy anyway. She was 6 at the time. She ate a ton of yogurt and took a probiotic.

I have had her tested a few more time too because of my lyme/bart diagnosis and still neg. I know the tests are unreliable, but I still have her tested at least once a year.

She has no symptoms, but I still watch.

Amoxy is good, and I'm sure the LLMD you have is doing the proper dose.

Has the napping changed at all?

I also want to add that Dr.J. is not the only MD who can properly treat your child, and that it is possible to see MD's who are still taking insurance, at least at first.

Also, in our experience, Dr. J. does not give second opinions. You would have to give up the LLMD you already have.

From what you have written, it sounds like your child's LLMD is doing things right, and that you might not have to go anywhere else, anyway.

Has your child been tested yet? It might be enough time since the bite for a test. I actually tested more positive once I started antibiotics!

Our LLMD says that even if we test and it comes out pos..which he doubts it will....we are treating so we would just continue what we are doing. Thank you for everyones response...it is greatly appreciated!!!!!

In dealing with other doctors, the schools, and even insurance, we found that it can still be helpful to have a positive test. It is okay if it comes out negative, since those results do not have to be shared, but it can greatly increase cooperation and reduce hurtful skepticism (even from family members) to have a positive one.
