I have yet to see any credible evidence that flu shots have any use other than creating possible side effects.

If there is a study out there that shows effectiveness I have not seen it. I have seen some that show they do not work in the young or the elderly. I would venture to guess if they do not work in those two groups, they do not work for the middle aged either.

I know nothing about pneumonia shots.

I got a tetanus/diptheria/pertussis vaccine and it was horrendous. Horrible mistake. This was in the midst of my lyme treatment, but at that point I had made a lot of progress. I got very very sick, and had a horrible winter.....it might have reactivated some of my infections, or just made my body really koo-koo.

I would discourage any of them, but especially the "DPT" or any of the heavy duty ones. Based on my experience, I dont' even think I will vaccinate my children when I have them.

Great articles Adamm!

My 83 y.o. mom has never taken a flu shot. She avoids doctors whenever she can and at 83 does not have any illnesses. She does get several colds a winter and this year is debating the flu shot for the first time ever.

Of course I was against it, but I sure would hate to see her get the flu and die after I talked her out of the shot.

Your articles are comforting. She did start taking Vit D and NAC this year. She is taking 1000 IU Vit D but the RDA is now 2000IU. I will share the articles with her.

Thank you!

No way. Will never take another vaccine again unless absolutely necessary.

I have gotten the flu shot for the past 3 years and have had absolutely no ill effects. Never got the flu either, but my husband did - and he didn't get the shot.

My LLMD said that it would be a bad idea to get a flu shot right now (3 months into abx treatment) because my immune system is so shot that I couldn't handle the vaccine.

The adult flu shot, unless it says otherwise, contains thimerosol as a preservative, and thimerosol contains mercury. Caveat emptor.

If you have a low vitamin D level, you will likely benefit more from vitamin D supplements than you will from a flu shot, and, in fact, with the way the Lyme condition strains the detox capacity of your liver, you will more likely cause harm to the system with the flu shot.

Thank you all so much for your input..Went to Dr. today with sinus infection and put on Bactrim DS and glad I couldn't get the flu or pneumonia vaccine...not going to now..Who actually okays the vaccine?...If it's the CDC, what was I thinking? Is it the FDA? With the bang up job they're doing with Lyme I'll take my chances on trying to keep healthy..Adam, your links were so helpful..This is my happy place..Thanks again...Connie [Smile]

The vitamin D council has some interesting info on vitamin D possibly being a better preventative measure for flu than the flu shot, plus it has the benefit of getting into the body through the skin, by simple sun exposure, or gi tract, without damaging tissue with a needle, or being combined with some toxic preservative.

my son and i get the flu shot every year
and every year we end up with this HUGE red circle around the shot (i'm talking like 3-4" width) that is red, hot and raised

so my thinking, after it happening this year, is that it's not so good for our immune system

this year is the first yr i've gotten the flu even though i had the shot
my son, however, did not catch it

This is a link to an article I wrote a while back...."The Vaccination Deception"

http://www.naturalmatters.net/article.asp?article=2766&cat=247

Vaccines are a business and the article tells how the CDC presented a powerpoint presentation to a vaccine conference to instruct in the methods which are most effective in creating fear and compliance.

This fear producing propaganda is extremely prevalent throughout our government sponsored media.....and vaccines and germs are some of the major tools used to perpetuate this fear.... for the purpose of motivating "consumers" to line up like herds of cattle or sheep.

Please research independant sources of info on vaccines. In other words...don't just visit govt. sponsored sites to help you in your decision making process.

For people whose immune systems are already fragile due to lyme or other infections....please be extra careful

Well.> Sadly last year I got the FLU SO horribly bad that I was bedridden and for months. This is 8 years after being sick but I had made some improvements in increments and was seeing some light.
Until that flu.. Everything came back at this opportunist time and i do not remember being that ILL in so long.. It was so horrible. I have never gotten the flu shot before...
I had to start over pretty much.. And more infections showed up and came up positive .. in a powerful way including Lyme.

And.. ok. Now.. I got a flu shot this year by my lyme doctor.
He know of my ordeal and he said. good idea!!

It's certainly not fun to be that sick and I don't blame people for wanting to avoid the flu. The problem is...that there are no long term studies being done on these vaccines. Just because people do not have an immediate reaction to a shot, does not mean they are not harmful in the long run

If I was considsering getting any kind of shot, I would first see if there is any long term research proving it's safety. Many people feel that alot of our autoimmune diseases have been at least partially caused by injecting foreign animal material and harmful chemicals into our blood stream....bypassing our body's natural defensive systems

And there's actually a group offering a lot of money to the first health care professional to drink a cocktail of common excipients.
No takers yet.
