Okay as I was getting my lunch ready a bit ago,and sorting my supplements and vitamins, something odd happened.
These are regular vitamins and supplements, like B-vitamins, Cranberry fruit Caplets, and so on New, w/in proper exp.' date.
So, I go to the sink, in kitchen to wash up, just as a puff of odd sweetish smelling 'smoke' comes up from under the sink lower cupboard area.
Next to nothing in there because of mice issues, the floor isn't hot etc. I was concerned because,Landlord and assistant were under trailor w/ a torch working on our water pipes which decided to freeze today for TxCoord'Treks Birthday.
Now i don't know what to think. We had left for a bit to do errands before TxC's afternoon shift. Trailor doesn't smell any odder than normal for an older trailer.
I don't think Diovan, Metformin ,or my supplements would cause me to hallucinate.I don't take them together. I have been watching what I eat carefully, and so on.
Now I have had Hallucinations when coming out of surgery/ w/ painkillers etc. but that is usually just from surgery.
ANd *after weaning off of Amytriptiline very slowly in Feb.2000, I was on it four years[ "CFIDS/FMS" And a kidney/UT issue], and didn't want to keep increasing doasage. Talked to health officals, since it wasn't doing what we needed it to.
And *since I know the U.S. doesn't grow huge loveseat size spiders, I knew that was a hallucination LOL...back in 2000.
The 'smoke kinda tingled/stung my nose, and it was just like one puff from under the sink area.
Uhm, so am I having a hallucination w/ olfactory sensation? Me',I don't know... I need to get to an LLMD/ND and soon me thinks... I have been having headaches more than usual...

<<<<< feelfit >>>>> I hope that is all it was, tho' it occured a couple hours after they had left, from working on the waterlines.
It was just so odd... I am hoping nothing is smoldering underneath the trailor. Landlord is generally fairly watchful of such things. they certainly don't want anything bad to happen.
That was just so odd, I'd have expected to smoke up well before it did,if it was residue smoke. These old trailors aren't exactly air tight.
At least I'd know I wasn't seeing things...yikes!!!
Thanks for the tho'ts!!!

Hey there, still not sure what to think, hubby taste tests for me cause my tatsebuds don't always work right. Sometimes I smell odd stuff too. But I am not sure if it is Olfactory halluciantion or not?
It was certainly odd, and concerned me somewhat. If I didn't see open flame, how would I know if something is smouldering???
And then anxiety over it isn't good either. So far there hasn't been much of anything else. The old gas heater in here does tend to smell a bit. In it's day it was prolly a good heater, I don't envy the folk that own these trailors.
People tear up stuff so badly, and its gotta be a frustration. But at least there is some insulation around the waterheater, and a few things fixed better now.
Hopefully whether smoke residue or hallucination, there wont be anymore of that smokey stuff coming from under the sink or anywhere else. That made me a mite nervous.
Thanks for the reply!!!

That does sound a bit odd, but maybe there is a reasonable explanation for it.
Do you have a cleaning powder or liquid under your sink? Since you are experiencing hard freezing temperatures (hence your water pipes freezing), is it possible that the bottle or container went through a temperature change and pressurized, eventually breaking the seal on the container and letting out powder or powderized (dried at the top) liquid cleaner?
Really it could be a container of just about anything, if it was closed it could have had the air or contents inside contract and expand, bust the top or sides and let out a "puff" of its contents.
Might want to check under the sink? If you don't have anything under the sink, I don't have a ready guess.
This is odd, but after I take my suppliments, regardless if I take them with food or water, sometimes the powder from the capsules comes up my throat and out my mouth and nose when I breath or talk. It is strange. The first time it happened, it looked like I was breathing smoke or there was smoke in the air in front of me. It burns your nose really bad. It doesn't require a burp in my experience. Maybe this is what you saw as smoke? Just a thought.

To logically look at the situation would mean this...
(1) There was really smoke...
(2) There wasnt any smoke...
If there was really smoke, then you need to find out if it already went out (fire...or its smoldering), or if it was just a one time dust blow up, or some powder that erupted, etc.
If there wasnt any smoke, then its possible you did hallucinate it. If thats the case, its not out of the realm of normal when it comes to lyme. You can have visual, hearing, smelling oddities, hallucinations, etc. as the brain heals and deals with inflammaton, toxins, etc. The key is to not let it freak you out so that it turns into an anxiety disorder.
So start basic..investigate...and if theres nothing...move on, and don't worry about it...

Hi there, here's an 'update' of sorts.
I never found a reason for the 'smoke/steam/mist' whatever it was...
But the trailor/mobile home is still here w/ no burn marks so things seem okay now.
Under the sink were a bottle of club soda, a bottle with a small amount of vinegar, a Swiffer dry duster, and a small bottle of propane fuel for our mini grill... .
I never even tho't about the propane...thanking Creator it didn't get too warm and explode.
We also have -Barbait-poison down in two little foil pans, because of the mice issues here. Not sure we'll ever know what it was.The lower cupboard is kept tied shut [old doors, settling trailor,as my husky mix,and 'crested mix dogs tend to be overly inquisitive and mishcievous.
I had just finished my supplements a few moments before I went into the kitchen, and washed my hands... some of them leave an odd taste in the mouth. So perhaps it was a weird combination of things. I am glad nothing was on fire,or exploded!!!
Until the cold weather lets up, we are keeping a water drip going in both sinks and tub. And Landlord found out that all the insulation wrap was gone from around the hotwater heater,so thats been replaced. And a couple of under skirting boards, that weren't in good shape were replaced as well.
It has turned off very cold, staying in the 'teens daytime, and going into the minus degress at night. It isn't usually quite that cold right here, because we are in a valley basin. This year is breaking area records.
Sooo...trailor is still standing, and we still have a roof over our heads...and I feel blessed not to have had a more serious situation!!!
Just Slightly Mystified but Relieved

wow, SilverWolf - very glad to hear you are ok, considering your discoveries...and that you got some things taken care of by your landlord.
I'm very sorry to be so long in replying to you - I have been bedridden the past couple weeks and completely lost track of everything.
Is your mouse poison in a powder form? Is it possible a mouse bumped the tray? I personally would go to the ol' mousetrap with peanut butter route rather than poison, but if you have a battalion I can understand the drastic measures.
We have mice in the garage right now due to hubby leaving a nice treat of black oil sunflower seeds in a plastic bag on the step. They got complacent and chubby. yum yum, poor little field mice thought they were gettin a gourmet free lunch, then wammo!
I hope you all stay warm through this cold season - my thoughts are with you and your mischievous pups. Wagging my finger at those pipes so they don't even think about it

<<<<< nenet >>>>>,
Sorry to hear you were feeling so ill,I hope you are doing better now.
The mice are crazy bad this year... bar bait is in little bars [like waxy soap and sawdust mixed] and at teh back of the wall under the sink.
I feel bad in away for the little critters...but they are very destructive, and this whole area has been riddled w/ them this year. And they carry disease Lyme, Hanta Virus etc... .
It was a scarey experience to say the least.
We had the landlord out again...first teh hot water froze last Thur.,this is after the torch and thaw, and then there was a water pressure issue,in area and our release/relief? valve popped and drained the water our for us...
Landlord got a different valve cap,and re- did, then made sure the water was working and staying as hot as needed.
Anyway,if we have to have anymore work done on Pipes and hot water heater...at least I know whats under my sinks now...
TxCoord and I are hopeful that the cold snap will not last much longer, but trying to prepare in case it does!
Thanks for the reply...Merry Christmas too...and Happy Holidays!

Thanks for the well-wishes Silverwolf - I am doing better than I was, but this is kind of the usual for me, though I am slowly getting better.
So sorry to hear about your pipes, but glad they got fixed quickly. I hope you and TxCoord and co. stay warm and have a Merry Christmas and happy holidays too!
