It sounds like they are not all safe. See below:

I don't buy that.

You can read how Lyme treatment is unsafe, too. [Smile]

You should Google the study they are talking about. That study has people living 4 times as long as with conventional treatment. This alternative stuff could cost big pharma lots of money, so they are going to put out all kinds of info to take away from it.

Some of the "dangers" are silly, IMO .... like, you might tear your anus? Or use a dirty enema bag?

I'm not trying to argue, I just would hate to see an article like this dissuade someone from using a coffee enema as they were a big part of the reason I turned the corner in my treatment.

Agree. If you think coffee enemas are a danger, what is the danger to keeping all of those toxins inside your body....

Walgreens in my neck of the woods no longer carries them so I got a nice cheap set (no card from Santa, sorry) through a medical supply place.

I've seen some great things at enemabag.com, too.

I did my first this weekend. I encouraged both my parents to do coffee enemas (the only treatment on record at the time for lengthening the life of a person with cancer of the pancreas). When I brought the idea to my dad in 1988, he decided he would rather die, which he did. My mom didn't jump at the idea in 2000, even though Memorial Sloan Kettering was using them for Pancreatic cancer at the time. She died, too.

Go figure. My siblings think my need for coffee enemas is karmic -- I definitely worked the hard sell on my parents. Now here I am, on my own adventure!

I have been doing coffee enemas for about four months, both before and also after my diagnosis of Lyme Disease, both on antibiotic therapy, and also off of it.

I find a lot of relief after doing the enema.

I bought my organic coffee as www.sawilsons.com

I got it there because this company was a major sponsor of a journal for functional medicine specialists which I was reading at the doctor's office of my own functional medicine specialist doctor.

She recommended coffee enemas very highly.

She sang this song to me: "The best part of waking up, is folgers in your butt!"
(It was a joke, because "folgers" is not really a good coffee to use--it should always be organic, and also brewed.)

I buy the saline enema containers at the pharmacy, and I use the saline first, to get the stool out, in order to be able to retain the coffee for a really long time.

The longer you can retain the coffee inside of your body, the more good it can do.

Sometimes, I retained it so long, the entire enema just absorbed--and nothing even came out later--because I just ended up going to sleep. I guess I must have been quite dehydrated that day.

You may get cramps, but try to just bear them, and retain it anyway, because the cramps will pass, and you can avoid cramps sometimes, with a good muscle relaxer.

I think you will find you feel healthier after a coffee enema, because they stimulate a nerve to get the liver to produce more bile, which helps the liver do its work better, and helps to loosen all the toxins already stored in the liver.

I found it even more helpful when I drank the juice of two grapefruits before hand, and also while I had a poultice of castor oil over my liver area, with a heating pad on top of the castor oil poultice.

sawilsons is special coffee which is organic and is only designed to be used for enemas. The color is greenish-tan, and when it brews, it smells like penuts--this is normal.

sawilsons also makes fantastic coffee for drinking which I really love, and which I highly recommend.

They have good prices.

I think you will like this company

Seekhelp,

Good video clip; I cracked up!!! I would react the same way! LOL

On a serious note, I have been looking for a safe and affective way to detox as I can't do it own my own. I keep seeing posts about coffee enemas, but never had a clue how to do it!!!

This video I thought was pretty helpful:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dx0d_CYMvgs

I do have a question and would be very thankful for any advice/help!!!

I am extremely toxic and although I have many books that include detox programs, I just can't seem to put them together.

I have a really hard time remembering and coperhending things now and books are very hard for me---hate it!!!!

Also because I am so toxic that it is dangerous to do any aggresive program. So I have to do something very mild. My LLMD hasn't reccomended anything except many supplements, and NAC. But I know that I need to do something. I've had 3 strokes. I end up in the ER everytime I start tx again and I really think it's due to toxins.

I start IV next week. Will the coffee enemas help with neurotoxins also or only the liver and ???? (already forgot)????

Also, my digestive systom and colon does not work anymore and I have SEVERE constapation. I take meds., but I still only have maybe 1 BM a week.

Will this cause a problem with the coffee enemas being affective?

Thank you as any advice is greatly appreciated!!!

SIX! [spinning smile]

[Wink]

We visited a neurologist who told us that he had an MS patient that did the Gerson diet and four coffee enemas a day. He has declared her CURED of MS.

He said it's an extreme protocol and she had to stop her life for two years and concentrate just on the diet.

He didn't tell her to do it, she did it on her own, and he was floored by the results.

Our LLMD has asked my daughter to do a modified version of this diet. Not sure I can get her to do coffee enemas.

Hi Scared08~

I highly recomend coffee enemas for you.

I was extremely toxic until about two years ago. I was having BM about once a week when I was lucky and my liver wasn't doing much of anything.

Coffee enemas will dramatically reduce to neurotoxins, but you don't want to do the coffee enema till you get your bowels moving.

The coffee enema is going to cause your liver to expel the toxin loaded bile into your small intestine for removal and if your bowels are stuck then your body will just reabsorb the toxins through your intestine walls.

Begin by getting your bowels moving better. One thing that i think will really help for you is Magnesium supplementation. You can take loads of it without worring about taking too much. Most Lymies are very deficient in Magnesium so i'm sure you could use a lot more.

Try taking up to 1500mg of magnesium a day. Start the dose out lower because you may herx from the increased magnesium.

Once you get up to 1500mg a day your bowels will be moving much better than they are now. Plus your whole body will love you for finally giving it the magnesium it needs.

If you get loose stools from 1500mg of Magnesium then lower the dose till you find a dose that keeps you regular but doesn't move things too fast.

Make sure you are drinking enough water and eating a high fiber diet. High doses of Vitamin C may help you get things moving more smoothly as well.

If you are still constipated then by an herbal tea for constipation. I think its Traditional Medicinals that has one called "Smooth Move" that works really well. Take that the day before to help clear your digestive tract. Then do the coffee enema. You don't need your colon totally clear to do an enema because the enema will help you do that. What you DO want to avoid is a clogged colon when you are trying to detox the liver.

When you begin doing the coffee enemas I think you will fall in love with them. That is how it has gone for most of us. You will feel so much calmer and peaceful and your mind will be clear.

I don't have a link for you right here for doing a coffee enema but you can get instructions everywhere.

Basically boil a quart of purified water in a stainless steel pot. Put 1-4 tablespoons of organic ground coffee in it and boil it for another few minutes, then let is simmer for about twenty. Let it cool to body temperature and then poor it into the enema bag, trying to keep as many grounds out as possible because they clog the enema hose. Then go from there. Put about half of the mixture in at once and hold for 12 to fifteen minutes before releasing it. Then do it again. The first one will probably release the stools that are present and then the second one should be easier to hold.

You can buy a enema bag at Walgreens or CVS Pharmacy.

If you do give this a try please let me know what you think, i'm excited for you.

Once you have your bowels moving well and your liver cleaner, you are going to feel soo much better!

I did my first one last night and plan to do another one tomorrow. I didn't have time to do a liver flush this week so I tried this instead.

I like it much better than a Liver/gallbladder flush. So much easier.

How do you do this?? I was looking for a colon hydroptherapist, but am having trouble locating one in Mass/boston/RI area. I am REALLY nervous about giving myself an enema. So what is the process and where do you get everything??

Thanks!

I would like to know what equipment you need.

Someone said enema bags avail at CVS or Walgreens but what about the tubing? Are these bags reusable? What is the proper way for cleaning/disinfecting the tubing? The kits on enemabag.com were $50 and up and alot of different types.

I want to start these but I need some help.

Like Zeitgeist - I use the CVS or Walgreens prelubricated enema saline solution disposable bottles (3 bottles for $3 or $4).

I guess you can reuse them, but I find the plastic to be rather wimpy.

I don't want to become allergic to coffee, so replace 1/4 cup of saline solution with 1/4 cup brewed (cooled) organic coffee.

I cannot drink coffee - so just being cautious.

I've been told not to do them every day - so every 2nrd or 3rd day seems to work for me. Sure helps brain fog and that toxic feeling.

Grace - I have never done an enema. Have fast do you push the contents of the bottle into the "area". With a bag you can see it going in.

Should you do it over a certain period of time? Also do you guys strain the cofee after boiling it. I have a plastic filter on my coffee maker. Would that be o.k to use.

I did a lot of research on several websites before I did my first one. The second one was much easier because I just used one of those disposable bulb things. Next time I'll fill two of them up because I think as you go you can do more volume. I don't plan to do this regularly, though.

Shouldn't we worry about plastic toxicity with the disposable ones? For that matter, what about the not disposable ones. They are rubber or plastic. Coffee is acidic and would break down the toxins in the plastic.

Anyone have suggestions regarding this?

That's a very good point. What are the "buckets" made of? Does anyone use a "bucket" for their enema?
