I have read a number of posts regarding detoxing, but my primary care physican and nuerologist haven't said anything to me. I have an appt with a LLMD in January, but I dont know how much longer this can go on for. What happens if I admit myself to the hospital?

That is a good question with likely widely varied answers. Most doctors would probably say no. As a believer in the need for detox, I would say "maybe". Certainly if one believes that a "herx" is the result of poor detoxification which many do, then possibly. It is known that one can die from a herx. However, in general, I think it probably isn't that likely that one would die from not detoxing in the short term. It might be more likely that not detoxing leads to other illnesses or persistence of chronic illnesses. It could result in a higher risk of later cancers, etc.
I don't think there is an easy answer to this question. Bottom line is that many of us and many LLMDs do believe that detoxification is a key to recovering from Lyme.

I agree with Scott. Not likely in the short term but as an indirect result of toxins one can end up with other illnesses.
Cancer is a big one and I personally think that diabetes can result from chronic inflammation which I believe can be caused by toxins.
One may actually *wish* they were dead due to an inability to detox. I do believe one can be that sick from toxins.

No. The human body is an amazing machine...it does our "detoxing" for us.

Well, at least in theory that is how it's suppose to work. However for Lymies it often doesn't do it well, along with all the other stuff that gets messed up.

Again this depends largely on genetics too. Get those HLA types tested

I learned a long time ago that this comes close to the truth:
You don't have arthritis - but you are toxic. You don't have allergies - you are toxic. you don't have Chronic Fatigue - you are toxic. You don't have diabetes - you are toxic. Your heart is not sick - you are toxic You don't have osteoporosis - you are toxic you are not depressed - you are toxic You don't have a prostate problem - you are toxic.
I could go on.
When the toxin blocks your pathways, you have had it until you clean them out. Once the body has caved in to allergies, the natural forces are on strike and the body is screaming for help.
Take care.
P.S. I forgot the main one ------
if you have Lyme Disease - you are toxic - i.e. most likely were you toxic with a weakened immunity before contracting Lyme.

If the human body is so amazing and does everything for us, why are we all here?
Clearly, something went wrong....
