This really sucks, I'm at the lowest possible dosage of abx and I just can't detox. It's getting worse and worse everyday.

I've been on doxy and rifampin for about 3 mo. and for about the last mo. it seems like i'm stuck in herx mode.

To top it all off stress around here won't go away. (hopefully my family doesn't read this) My mom tried to kill herself a few weeks ago. not really sure why at 71yrs old she would do this.
Thank god she changed her mind and got help.

Then my daughter is getting the perverbial run around from the military medical system. She's getting sicker by the day and just got told that she has leisons on her liver, growths on her thyroid and cysts in her cervix.

Well actually they found those in Feb. but because the liver leisons are bigger now they are following up on it.

Has anyone quit abx to detox? and what would the longest amt of time should I be off?

I have my llmd appt. on monday but when I called him on the phone a couple of weeks ago all he did was to offer me some tranquilizers and agreed with my idea of cutting back abx by half.

wow, boy, when i rant and vent i just don't know when to shut up. [dizzy]

Hi Proudmom, I'm surprised no one responded to your question yet. I haven't done much in the way of detox so I'm of little help. I do not seem to have the susceptible tissue type in this regard.

Do you have the susceptible HLA type that makes detox harder? There are tests for it.

To be honest, I don't see why you can't run detox concurrently with a moderate dose of abx, but perhaps your doc has decided that you'd be better off with a break.

Seems like you have your hands full. Hang in there and don't let yourself get too stressed.

Sorry to hear that things are getting rough.

If the herxing gets too difficult from multiple abx, why not speak with your llmd about taking a few days off or tapering down? If your treatment is at a stage where you can do that safely. Slow and steady treatment is most effective for some, rather than aggressive.

Hello there.
i too have that terrible time detoxing.. What it feels like to me is that as the ABX get to those infections and kills them... they back up and build up and my body can not keep up at that same rate to detox them out.

On abx in the past I have stayed in constant Herx mode because of this. I have talked to my doctor and as well he knows.

We have agreed to keep cutting back until I can tolerate the meds and then as well I take days off.
At one point I was on one week and off one week. I was still so bad during the one week on meds i still told him I can not handle it. I just stayed in bed for the week.

I then now am trying it 3 days a week and on even the two days off I notice feeling better.

But because of the herxing he feels I am on a good med ... and wants to keep me on it.

I do take a week off whenever I feel like it and he says that is fine. I just feel like my body needs to take a breath and catch up and detox without the burden off adding more and more toxins during the abx treatment.

Now that I take time off and have tx spaced out. i am so much happier and hopeful about treatment.

I hope this helps..

I also do detox baths.. No epson salt anymore.> doc says no magnesium..... but others things like baking soda and vinegar and just.. getting hot and soaking helps me.

Lots of water too. A good diet.. very good.. Very strick.. Things like that too add up to a big help

D

My LLMD hasn't ran anymore tests since the initial wb and cos. He did take blood for cbc but thats all. He concluded, based on my symptoms that I'm slow to detox but wasn't really clear on what I should do.

I am following my diet, drinking lots of water, soaking in tub with baking soda and epsom salts, and using Burbur/Parsley combo.

Sorry all, I can't refer back to your responses to remember what all you said. Just know that I do appreciate your well wishes and advice. [kiss]

One of the best things that alternative therapies do is support the body's own ability to heal itself. The strongest detoxers are your body's own: the liver, the kidneys, the lungs, and the skin. I would look for those things that support their function.

SAM-E is one over-the-counter supplement that provides liver support, while acting as a mood stabilizer to help you cope with stress. Be sure to check with your LLMD before using this or any other product, because even over-the-counter products do not always work well with the meds you are on.

Best wishes for better days,

Shaz

I think the length you take a break would depend on how ill you are. If you are very ill, maybe a month, if you are doing better, maybe several months are in order. Also I guess you could just take a break and see how you do and you will know when you feel it is time to re-start treatment.

The baths, burbur/parsley are all good. Milk Thistle is also good.

I got very ill on Rifampin because my Liver Enzymes went sky high. Please ask your Dr. to check your liver enzymes - that could be making you sick, too. I thought I was having a super long herx.

My Infra red sauna is what's saving my butt these days. You can purchase one very cheap on Ebay (some are as low as $169.00 including shipping) This was the best thing I've ever bought.

I hope you feel better soon!
