The FACT[TM] test is a very good test for detecting the presence of neurotoxins in the brain. It is also known as a Visual Contrast Test (VCS). The FACT test has been successfully used in medical diagnosis and subclinical neurotoxicity detection.

What amazes me is that this test although mentioned in lyme books is not widely used? Does anyone know of any Doctors that do this type of test that they can PM me. I live in RI.

I have asked supposedly LLNeuro optha's, Ocular Immunoligist and LLMD...and no one I have asked has heard of it...DA

Anyone help me out here I would love to get this done and will ask Doc when I see him but wondering if anyone knows who specializes in this?

I know we all have different Doctors we use and like but what makes no sense at all to me is that these Doctors we see and pay $$$$$ to do not have a basic protocol within the lyme system..

I was seeing a LLMD who tested me for lyme and of course regular bloods work... nothing seemed to hit home tried new doc tested me for
Mycoplasma - I have
CPn - I have
Thyroid AB - I have
Am I missing something here? Shouldn't there be a protocol within the network of "LLMD". I know it's all based on expertise but shouldn't some of the guess work be eliminated?

Anyway if some knows of a Doctor(s) that do the above test I would appreciate a PM or response.

Thank you.

My dr used to use it. I think all lymies fail it, so it's probably not that useful to the drs.

I think the test is useful to monitor how well you are doing in removing toxins from die off.

I took the test before I started treatment and I was barely abnormal and passed no problem.

2 years into treatment I failed the test. I have herxed non-stop and horribly since starting treatment.

Despite many modes of detox, including constant use of cholestyramine, I am still accumulating toxins from die off.

DID ANYONE GET ANY BENEFIT FROM USING IT AND IS THERE ANOTHER DOCTOR OTHER THAN THE ONE IN MD WHO USES IT?

Text that is written in all capitals on the internet generally signifies shouting so you may not want to use all caps unless that's your intention.

As I said, the benefit to me is in monitoring how well I'm doing at removing toxins.

The initial benefit is in knowing if you are full of toxins.

You don't need a doctor's prescription to take the test or to read it since it is interpreted for you. You may need help figuring out how to detoxify though. There is a lot of info on lymenet about that and you can get the book "Mold Warriors", written by Dr. S.. He uses cholestyramine and actos.

I don't know of any other doctor's at this point that use this test although there are probably some lyme doctors who use it.

I had two done in 2003 (or so). One by an eye specialist in my city - to the specifications of the researcher who wrote about it, Dr. S.

It was fine. I was puzzled.

I then traveled to see Dr. S and had another VCS test done. It,too, was fine. I was very puzzled as I was one of the worst cases Dr. S. said he had seen, he explained thats sometimes, a person can do okay on the test but still be very ill with lyme.

He did a thorough exam, looked over tests and concluded that, for me, this want just not a test that showed the extent of the damage in the areas - for my case.

AND Dr. S. did a different kind of VCS test. THAT one, I flunked. Ah, hah! Just proves we all have some differences.

I don't know why one kinds of VCS test did not show anything and the other did. Maybe because I had already focused on liver support on many levels.

Still, at that time I was extremely ill with positive for three tick borne infections, seizures, and the entire range of symptoms.

So, while this test may provide some good information if problems are seen, a proper diagnosis will look at many things both clinical and from the lab.

For years, I worked at getting the toxins down so the visual test may have not shown so much. BUT I had not had access to antispirochetal methods. BOTH are vital. You can't leave either one out.

I've taken 2 VCS tests online in the past: the first result was 70% likelihood of neurotoxins; the second, after several months of Cholestepure, showed 100% likelihood!

I've been ill a long time and feel that this test may be more helpful for the newly ill, though it's so cheap that it is hardly a big investment financially.

For people wanting to take the test online, Dr S's newer site is www.biotoxin.info

My intention TERRY is to get well....how you interpret things is left up to YOU....

I have never been on a chat where trival things seem so important to some. I am on a lung chat that you'd probably be posting this all day as one of the more prominent people on the chat posts like this all day....and not a word has ever been mentioned...

She is well liked. But thank you for your reply on VCS...Which I personally will advise people to not waste the $15....and besides the Doctor thinks he is so exclusive he will not even address the issue of other Doctors which may be in the New England Area that are familiar with the test..
