Ha Ha Ha. Very funny. Oh and look at the other states that had decreases!! Wow, nice to know that all our positive thoughts are helpful...... because LORD knows, the State Dept. of Healths and CDC are doing NOTHING to try to decrease Lyme..... except changing the case reorting requirements so that we don't exist!!!

This is laughable...
well, if there is any good news here, its that this is powerful evidence that reporting for lyme is completely unreliable, even for tracking the spread of the disease.
CT and RI had no cases this year....WTF?!

This is insane! I personally know 7 people just in my county in MS that discovered they have LD in 2008.
How cruel they are to pretend that we just don't exist.
Their day is coming.... in this world or in the next!

I would like to know why they even bother reporting this crap if they are not going to look at the whole picture. These numbers are obviously skewed, and for their benefit. It is misleading for all those ducks that just really don't know the truth about LD, and it just makes it that much harder on us.
This really gets me so angry! The CDC itself admits that the test are inaccurate so why report as though they are not.
I still don't get why they don't take us into consideration. If we are ill and get better with antibiotic treatment, if we take Malarone and our symptoms go away, why isn't any of this used as evidence. It is so freaking obvious!!! Yet it is completely ignored. How crazy all of this is!

It's really rather alarming and I'd personally like to know HOW they got a ZERO in CT and RI.
I think we all know it was NOT eradicated in these two states just this year, but are they threatening all the doctors that they better not report ANY?
Why are the deliberately fudging numbers? What do they have to gain?

I am sure there is a reason and maybe the numbers have not been confirmed or are in yet fully and they do not want to just throw up a number?? I do not know but it is not the end of 08 yet. D

Any contact numbers for the CDC that folks could call and ask them what's going on?
Especially with the zero reports. Somehow I don't think CT and RI have been that successful in eradicating Lyme this past year.

When I was first dx with Lyme, my LLMD reported it to the Health Dept and Environmental something or other.
They called and asked me a whole bunch of question - did I see the tick, was it tested for b. burg??? you know, did I have the bull's eye rash, had it been more than 6 weeks since the tick bite.
Outcome was that in Florida at that time, you had to be within 6 weeks of the tick bite, have seen the little guy, and had a documented bull's eye rash. Or you were at death's door.
Anyhow, my husband and I are not what Florida calls "Reportables".
I wrote the CDC and a real nice lady called me at home. Seems each state sets it's own reporting criteria. Florida doesn't want anybody to know Mickey Mouse has ticks.
This information is 5 years old, but I bet it hasn't changed.

Wow! After great pondering, I've come up with a brilliant idea to eliminate lyme disease (reporting) in all 50 states.
I recommend a new and IMPROVED ELISA test. Take 10 ml of pure H20, add .9% NaCl. To this add one drop of the patients blood to be tested.
If the medium turns jet black the test is positive for lyme disease. If not, obviously no lyme is present.
This will reduce the reported cases of lyme disease anywhere the improved test is used. Then all states can report such amazing results like CT and RI.
