Has anyone lost their sense of taste and smell while being on rocephin? and if so does it return after you stop rocephin?

what you describe could be the result of the intensification of symptoms resutling from the killing of the bacteria (the bacterial fragments cause and inflamatory reaction). This gets worse at around day 3 of treatement and then cycles every few weeks.

How long have you been on the stuff?

I have been on almost 30 days now and this just started about 5 days ago. My tongue is very irritated and has a sense of only the sour taste buds working along the sides of my tongue.I can not taste sweet or salty at all..I can't even taste raw cranberry!!! I am hoping this is only temporary!

Sounds like the 4 weeks flare up. I'm guessing you had significant neuro involment prior to treatment.

It should pass in a few days.

Yeah alot of neuro, and It has gotten worse since I started Rocephin..I don,t remember this happening 4 years ago when I had my first round of IV rocephin.Of course I had been on doxy for a couple months proir to the IV last time..This time I was only on doxy about 3 weeks when they put the line in.. I did so well after my first treatment and then suddenly this fall I developed a bulls eye rash again...Reoccurance or reinfected? I don't know..
