Has anyone had any success with this and how long was the treatment? From what I've read, it seems like you have to be on it for a while (depending on your severity) but that most people relapse and go on it again. If it's 4 days on and 3 off- how does that work? I've never ben on IV's for Lyme- can I go about my life or do I have to stay put for hours until this drips into me? I have a fabulous LLMD who thinks the reason I haven't made any progress is because of co-infections and toxins so I went to see an internist and am waiting on the results.
Technically, the both Dr's should collaborate and come up with some plan of action but I don't know who I should listen to. This disease sucks.........

Sadly, with this disease, what works for one of us, doesn't another and visa versa.
Basically it's "finging the right drug for the right bug".
I am on IV and my first drug was Rocephin. I started out with one a day all seven days of the week. Then my doctor changed it to twice a day for four days.
With IV's, it would depend on how it is dispensed. Some are done with drip bags of various types and some with a portable type of ball.
I had the ball type which makes it easier if you want to move around easier and not be tied to a pole. They are more expensive per dose to do the ball and if you are paying out of pocket, that may be a convenience you would need to weigh out.
As far as falling after Rocephin....again, this will be dependant on patient. My doctor moved me over to IV Zithromax with mepron and art when he felt I could go no further on the Rocephin, but everyone is different.

3 mos of IV Rocephin significantly lessened my neuro symptoms.
It was not a magic bullet though, unfortunately.
Some people have better luck doing it longer, and I think if you have the opportunity to do different drug combos while on IV, you will have better results.
As far as dosing - I didn't pulse, but infused daily.
Your doctor may prescribe it differently, but for me, infusing took about an hour - and I think that included getting everything ready and putting it away afterward.
Other than the infusing, you can go about life fairly normally, although showering can be a challenge!

I used Rocephin for 2 months. I had the ball iv medicine. Took about 45 min total. You can put it in your pocket and walk around. I did mine 1 time a day, 7 days a week. I developed gall stones, which is a side affect I was not aware of, and had my gall bladder removed 4 weeks ago. I was switched to Claforin. That medicine also comes in an iv ball but you do it 2 times a day instead of 1.
