I was on a 10-day course of oral Clindamycin from my ID doc for elevated ASO titers. The first 2 days were hellish. The next 3 pretty good. Day 6 bad. Days 7-10 wonderful!!

I am now done with it and noticed a decline in health already. It was SO much better than Zithromax, Ceftin, Biaxin, Doxy, Omnicef, etc. My LLMD won't touch it with a 10 ft pole due to toxicity. i was on 900 mg daily. My LLMD is pretty conservative and will pull you off a drug ASAP if you report feeling bad. Maybe liability issues?

It's depressing to be off of it. I had a life back for a while. It was wonderful!!

My question is could Clindamycin target a specific illness better than any other antibiotic I've taken to date? Perhaps Lyme is not my real issue? I WAS NOT taking Quinine. My ID doc doesn't believe I have any co-infections.

Events like this make me wonder what I am truly battling?

Hi - I am allergic to almost every abx. So when I got diagnosed with Lyme (no co's), I had clindamycin in my drawer from a previous small infection, so I thought I'd try it. I did 150mg 3-4x/day.

Well, it worked. Took down fatigue, chemical sensitivity and ankle swelling in three days. By the end of a week, no more muscle pain that had been called fibromyalgia for 25 years that no one knew what to do with.

One simple antibiotic! It caused a herx in a month's time, and I had to back down in dosage. I treated with it for six months, then it stopped working. I took a break and am now treating with it again, 2x/day. It reduces swelling in joints.

I have never had any adverse side effects to it that I'm aware of.

I think it should get listed as a med for treating Lyme.

Btw, later on I did try one pill of doxy, like the IDSA wants us to do, and I had an allergic reaction. To the pill and to them.

I actually had energy to do stuff the entire day. It was like a miracle. My neck tightness lowered significantly to. I'd eat lava to do that.

Next question...perhaps it hit Babesia on it's own even w/o Quinine?

Perhaps someone can comment why we rarely see anyone on Clindamycin for lyme treatment.

I don't recall people mentioning being on it here except for babesia treatment.

Generally speaking, Clindamycin is notorious for causing C.Diff. Maybe that is why LLMD's avoid it? Interesting.

Since it has helped you so much Seek I hope that your doctor will allow you to continue treatment. Best wishes [Smile]

I think Clindamycin can also help with Bartonella -- don't think it will totally kill it -- may be bacteriostatic and not bactericidal.

Hubby's current LLMD won't prescribe this because he is worried about it causing c. diff.

Hubby took it in the past with quinine. Was one of the best combos he ever did.

I got c.diff from I think erythromcin a decade ago, after some days on it.

For Lyme, I took clinda for six months, and now another nine months, and have never gotten c.diff.

I think it ought to be given a chance as a Lyme-treating drug for those who tolerate it and respond well to it.

I think Clindamycin may hit babesia because it helped me with Light sensitivity within 1-2 days, this may seem strange but I know it did because I was back on computer for several minutes and not sick.

I then added in Quinine and things got better, but the Quinine was a big help for me as well.

Light sensitivity for me affects me physically, I get heart racing burning severe anxiety and brain fog. I was in Lyme treatment with antibiotics when this happened.

I would def do Quinine with Clindamycin for Babesia, I did this before and felt it was more effective then Mepron which I am on now with azithromcyin, but I could possibly just start to get so much better in the next month, not sure.

I dont think so though,.

Clindamycin worked for me too. Not sure what it is hitting besides babesia, but think it does hit something else that lymies have.
