I took Albendazole about 8 years ago. No problem with it. Just make sure you clear out the debris.
I always did colonics (not coffee enemas) with this kind of treatment. My husband needed the Alinia later - little reaction, but same recommendation. You don't want anything to stay behind.

Take care.

Thanks GiGi---

did you have any side effects from taking it? or any warnings? thanks for the colonic reminder! smiles...

CD57---

it is an anthelmintic , which means "of or pertaining to a substance capable of destroying or eliminating parasitic worms, esp. human intestinal helminths."

I am taking it for worms....apparently I have a worm problem that needs to be addressed.... [Frown]

Hi Fawne, I am currently taking it. Today is Day 3. My LLMD (same as yours I think?) instructed for me to take it for 10 days. I am also on Alinia. I was instructed to take the Alinia for 4 days, add Albendazole for 10 days, continue with Alinia.

What I am experiencing thusfar is diarhheah, headaches (particularly upon waking), and intermittent mild-mod nausea; kind of a hang-over type feeling. But, then I am also recovering from an extended bought with the flu so it is hard to know. I am fairly sure it is the meds as I waited to start until flu symptoms were improved.

My experienced side effects are consistent with those listed for both drugs.

I am not sure if the side effects diminish as one becomes used to it or what. I hope so. My side effects are not intolerable, but the diarhhea is significant enough that I have cancelled appts. this week.

I've been on repeated rounds of this. It has not gotten rid of the problem but it did help a great deal. Now they are back again and I'm on ivermectin. Doesn't seem to be as effective as albenza for me. Several different herbal protocols did nothing for my problem.

I get nausea, diarrhea, malaise with albenza. The first time I took it my liver felt like it was very swollen. It was so bad I could hardly walk. That lasted for 3 days. It didn't happen the next time I took it.

Hope it helps you.

Terry

I had two 14 day courses. I was taking all my meds for lyme and co-infections that I normally take.

Fawne, did you ever see naturopath C.R? Is she the one who tested for worms, or was it Dr H? Was it an energetic test?

K, I had no side effects. My husband took the Alinia for 21 days 2000 mg, if I remember correctly, no side effects. But very black stool - that's why colonic.

We all had colon cleanses before, such as www.drnatura.com which I think is a must to get as much out as possible. Colon cleanses, if you have a parasite problem, are very important. I did not care for Humaworm, but really like the DrNatura mainly because of the sweep with the psyllium mix

I think this is one of the most important jobs - cleanup of old deposits.

Good health, take care.

A few more question for Albenza-

Can you take it near supplements- thereʻs nothing said about minerals or such anywhere....???

or with herbs? I am taking it about an hour or two away from them for now till I know more...but it sure messes with my eating schedule to do that....

I have started it now, and feel a little nausea, slight headache, and very drugged sleepy feeling...

no diarrhea...??? I was expecting this- but I actually feel more constipated since taking it? seemed like everyone got diarrhea..?

I have more rocky stools.... still having 2 BMs a day- but just rocky ...and not satisfying....

I know thatʻs not good cause I want to be having things move more--and clear out!

I am taking fiber.... and drinking lots of water....

iʻll try and have colonics next week, but any suggestions for now?

thanks again!

Smiles and hugs~

Fawne

Fawne, I have had diarrhea the whole time. Now on Day5 with it; 5 more days to go. The intensity and frequency of the diarrhea is somewhat lessening now, but every bowel movement is diarrhea. Overall I have a feeling kinda like a hangover....really sluggish sloshy~headed feeling.

I am also on Alinia at the same time. Last time I was on Alinia and Mebendazole and didn't have this much diarrhea issues. I hope that means this time that parasites are really getting cleaned out. I was only on the Alinia for 3 days last time though as 3 days is all insurance would cover; not enough. Now I am back on it (out of pocket) for much longer...probably a month or two.

So, I think the Albendazole is causing it; especially after reading similar happened to TerryK.

Fawne, have you thought about adding some Vit C or Magnesium? Those usually loosen stool when taken in higher amounts. Or you could just take some OTC Ducolax stool softener. Also make sure you are drinking lots of water to flush out and ensure things are eliminating well.
