My llmd said I developed gerd from the 400mg of doxy a day. I'm now on protonix till this heals and then on amoxicillin when this heals. does anyone have experience with gerd. I'm wondering how long untill this heals? I'm so uncomfortable and discouraged at this point. I just feel like crying. This stinks because I can't even enjoy food. Help mom of boys

I'm sorry about your GI pain...sounds rough.
I've never taken generic doxy, but did recently start Doryx (time-released doxy).
In a recent search on here about Doryx, I saw many posts complaining of GI issues from doxy. In fact, most posts about Doryx were in response to such complaints...many people recommended Doryx as a better alternative for the GI tract than generic doxy.

Doxy is nasty on the stomach. Make sure you eat a fill meal, and drink a big glass of water, THEN take the Doxy. Don't lie down for 3 hours after. ALWAYS eat with your meds. When I took Doxy, my LLMD, Dr. B said to always eat lots of food with it.
If its still bad, then why don't you go on Bicillin LA shots and Rocephin shots and give your GI system a break.
I would stop the oral antibiotics, take the protonix, and add some Carafate (coats and heals the stomach lining)
