I could be wrong, but you asked for thoughts not facts.
I think I remember reading that Ceftin is or can be specifically for Lyme B., but because it is so expensive it isn't always prescribed.
See below, I am on Doxy and Ceftin, and it is a tough combo.
Ceftin tastes awful! I sometimes make my own capsules, so I take the tops off 2 00 size, which covers the tab so I can get it down without tasting. Very helpful.

I was taking 100 mg Doxy twice a day for 3 months prior to my first appointment with LLMD, who said "Let's give you enough doxy to do some good", and also prescribed Ceftin on November 24th. Take at same time, hope that's OK.
Makes me really nauseated if take on empty stomach, so have to force myself to eat in the morning so I can slug em down.
Had follow up visit 12-31, no change. As of now have 3 refills remaining on each.
Like you, I want to kill the little beasts so love his attitude. It has been rough, but since I want to move on down the road will deal with it.
