This is killing me! I can't do certain things, I have to find an answer. Those of you who got better on treatment and had arm, wrist, hand pain - how long did it take to go away? Do you remember what treatment was it that finally killed the pain???
THANKS! Rich

Hi Rich -
Babs caused Most of my pain --
The ABX you are on is a Good selection- Add in Artimisinin at some point in time-
Also drink Tonic Water -Daily- 1 liter or More -
the Schweppes Brand is the strongest I have found --
Tonic Water Has Quinine in it -- get the Diet kind - Jay -

Thanks, but my doctor thinks the Babs is cleared out or at least under control, because most of those symptoms subsided. I stopped the Mepron and Zith, plus the ceftin! I am on the Doxy and Biaxin now.
What does the Quinine do???

I get very confused about things since I have a genetic disorder, Hemochromatosis H63D Homo, so can't be sure of what is what.
Doctor's hate it when you have overlapping problems, it is just too hard for them, boo hoo.
BUT, hand involvement that really hurts could be indicative of iron overload.
I and another person that I know of on this board have HH and Lyme, so take it from us you can have both.
Just search "Hemochromatosis hand" and see if it fits.
The initial test is to check your Ferritin level.
As with Lyme, the powers that be cannot agree to include this little test in the basic blood panel workup, even though when caught early, you will never have a problem. Not caught early, arthritis (major hand involvement, I have had carpal tunnel surgery and 4 trigger digit surgeries) and liver cancer are in your future.
FYI, once diagnosed with a genetic test, you will have problems getting health coverage.
Estimates are 1 out of 200 people have it, so it is not "out there". Also referred to as the Celtic Curse.

Could iron overload be caused by excess iron in the diet or is it always hereditary? I'll ask my doctor this week when i see her.
I have been doing epsom salts and acupunture but no change yet. Maybe I'll look into Lidoderm.

I had severe hand pain, one of my worst areas of pain. After being on treatment for 7 months it is much better. My hands still feel stiff at times but the pain is so much better. I treated with antibiotics, then Malarone. Still dealing with Babesia. Still have overall pain, but not as severe as before.

What abx? I was on mepron, zith and ceftin and now doxy and biaxin. During ceftin treatment, my feet started feeling better and even more so since on doxy and biaxin. still the hand, wrist and arm hurt terribly.

My arm pain has been a combination of congested lymph in the neck and shoulder, meningitis, general inflammation, and a compressed cervical disk.
My suggestions:
Gentle arm movement drains the lymph. We tend to protect the arm and not move it, so the lymph stays congested. Get it moving, and later when possible, lift weights.
Address the possibility of lyme meningitis.
Take supplements that reduce inflammation.
Massage, Craniosacral therapy, and lymph drainage therapy can help.

Very interesting. I am noticing, the less I protect the arm, the better it feels. It feels better when I play my guitar and get all the forearm muscles going. I started lifting weights again and it also feels much better at that time....however, I am a little limited because the pain can be so bad in parts of the arm like the wrist!
