First of all great news...we have an appointment with a highly praised llmd Feb. 9th. Our family doc has agreed to work with him in whatever treatment plan he comes up with.
I talked with the scheduling person today. When I asked her if my wife should increase her dosage of doxy (prescribed by our family doc) the receptionist said two things:
1. The doctor won't give any medical advice before seeing your wife. (I understood)
2. Then she said that any abx she's currently taking will sku the results of any tests that the doc may want to give.
I told her that my wife has had two tests already She had two reactive bands: IGG and IGM.
She then said, "Oh, Okay." I kick myself for not asking a follow up question, "well, is it okay to continue taking the doxy?" I didn't!
Finally...My Question: Do you think the LLMD will want to run any addtional test?
We will be traveling 8 hours to get there so we want to get the biggest bang for our buck.
Thanks for any input you may have. Connections

Most LLMDs do run their own testing, regardless of any testing you have already done, at least in our experience. My daughter had been on short-term IV abx. for weeks before seeing the LLMD for the 1st time, she still tested positive, but we were also warned it may skew the results prior to the testing. There's nothing you can do about it, just hope for the best. Good luck!

Betty's POSTING GUIDELINES
When you post or reply, please break up your solid, continuous block text welcome to the board! many of us have neuro lyme where we can NOT read long solid block text and be able to comprehend and read it as is.
please edit your post by CLICKING PAPER/PENCIL ICON to right of your name. that opens up BOTH subject line and body text.
now please break up your WORDY SENTENCES into one sentence paragraphs. Then hit ENTER KEY ``THREE`` after each paragraph; we need that space for comprehension.
if you are NOT a wordy person, you can do 2 or 3 total ok. do this for your entire post.
NOTE: you do NOT have to use "", just show the name of person you are responding to, and then type your comment.
IF you need to use "", PLEASE DELETE "BOLD" CODES so it's regular type text we read vs. the DARK, HARSH/PAINFUL BOLDING.
specifically, delete the first 4 characters of 2ND LINE of a ""
[QB] just delete these 4 characters, and BOLDING is GONE! my eyes will really appreciate that; it's one very bad side effect of my having lyme for 38.5 years!! xox
then go to left hand corner and mark box to receive ALL REPLIES, and click EDIT SEND
we thank you for helping us; otherwise, we will SOB, SCROLL ON BY, since we can't read to help you. If I see posts like this, I SOB them; to hard on me.
LYMETOO'S DR. C'S EXPLANATION OF WESTERN BLOT TESTING!
People seeking doctors might be able to get help from their state online information and support group. Nearly 3,400 people belong to state groups. Some of the groups are small but more than 20 of them have 50 or more people and seven have over 100.
The groups are moderated and you have to apply. Most don't allow doctor names, but once on the group, you can ask for doctors in a certain area and ask people to email you privately. *******************************************

My LLMD was happy I had already done Lyme testing for myself and my daughter through IGeneX and had copies of the test results with me. He did not repeat the Lyme tests.
I suggest you take with you copies of all recent tests that have been done, including blood work like CBC.
Also, I think he will be fine with your wife already on Doxy. He may want to test fo other things. Tests are usually extra costs - so I'm not sure about the "bang for the buck" idea you have.
If you are going to test for co-infections, it may be better cost wise to have your wife's blood drawn at your PCP's office.
Check with the LLMD as to which Lab to send the blood work off to.
Then call the Lab and get "test protocol" from them. They will tell you what to do to get best test results. They will also send the test kit to you.
Good Luck! -p
