I'm really bummed. I went off antibiotics in early November, after 6 months of oral abx. (treated for Lyme, bart, babs). Within a couple of days, my sleeping/insomnia problems resumed, but seemed to resolve to "normal" after a few weeks.

Since then, I've been having tingling/nerve issues. Not randomly, but when I do certain things, like spend too much time on the computer, so that, at first, felt more like an overuse issue. The weird thing is that my right foot has started tingling whenever I drive. Or both feet tingle when I get off the elliptical trainer at the gym.

And then there's a minor sore throat, which has been coming and going since the holidays.

The last couple of nights, I've had trouble falling asleep. And I had some very brief twitching in my arm this past weekend (just about a minute's worth).

Generally, I feel good, with plenty of energy to live my regular life, exercise, etc. My symptoms aren't major, but they're definitely present. I don't want to be paranoid, but I feel like something is brewing here.

I have a call in to my LLMD, but haven't heard back yet.

Anyone have any insight as to what's going on here? Do relapses usually happen quickly, or is it a more subtle process? And what do I do (or not do) now?

I'm trying not to freak out, but I'm really sad about starting over again. Any perspective would be appreciated.

Thanks.

In my experience -

Bart tends to relapse fairly quickly (within weeks, symptoms returning).

Babs relapses are a bit slower - symptoms returning within a 4 month time frame.

Not sure about Lyme relapses, but others will have answers soon hopefully.

I actually would have babs relapses very quickly. [Smile]

Sounds like bart symptoms to me .... but I would be concerned about Lyme too. Better to get back on something than to let it progress.

Herbs might be an option you try for a couple weeks to see if they help. The whole idea with Lyme is to get the upper hand ... maybe herbs can help. I wouldn't accept decline on them, however, I'd get back on something if they didn't help.

We're all so different! There just aren't magic formulas. [Smile]

Like Six said, do get back on some kind of treatment soon, and feel better.

Long term abx treatment may have altered your gut flora and caused a problem with vit. B12, deficiency of that is associated with neuropathic symptoms, but so is vitamin D deficiency, both easy enough to test via blood.

This sounds exactly like my situation! I had about 6 weeks of sleep issues that have been better the last few nights.

Twitching which some days is minor but some days its very noticeable etc... Sore throat, headache, migrating pains in the middle of the night. But functioning fine.

This has been going on for me since right before Thanksgiving.I am playing "normal" because I am so sick of Lyme disease. Its called avoidance!!!

I relapsed last year, went back on antibiotics over the summer and I became symptom free in about 3 weeks but because of another health issue I switched over to herbs and the symptoms crept back in.

Discouraged I stopped the herbs and in a few weeks symptoms really kicked back in.

If you go back on something it probably won't be for too long but it is discouraging nonetheless.

Feel better and go for something. I think those of us with Lyme get used to living in a slightly compromised state.

I vote for batonella/BLO, your symptoms re exactly how mine started out. 6 months is also not very long of an abx treatment for these illnesses.

Sorry that your symptoms are creeping back in ...

I've relapsed three times in three years - The first two times the relapses happened very fast and I became very sick very fast.

I'm in the middle of my third relapse now. It started gradually with very subtle sypmtoms and I brushed them off - I waited to do anything until I was pretty sick again, and I sure wish now I had acted sooner.

I'm with everyone else, get on top of this before it gets out of control!

I just wanted to post a quick thanks for all of the responses. I had been dragging my feet about dealing with my situation.

My LLMD started me on Biaxin, Flagyl, and Mepron about a week ago (my Babs tests came back positive). The next day, I started herxing, and my symptoms have been consistent with Bart, though I suppose you can never entirely count Lyme out.

So I have been feeling somewhat lousy, but it's been okay. I even managed to get through my 9-year-old's slumber party last night, with 8 guests. Now, my agreeing to host that in the first place should have been my first clue that my brain hasn't been working correctly...!

Yeah you must have Lyme affecting the brain to agree to having 8 nine year olds spend the night while herxing [lol]

Thanks for updating us and so glad that you're back on appropriate meds.

Or maybe the slumber party caused the herx!

Glad you're back on meds, I hope it all resolved quickly.
