Does anyone know how safe Lumbrokinase is? I was doing some reading and learned about how lumbrokinase is a natural supplement that is similar to heparin as an anticoagulant, but not as dangerous. One LLMD prescribes it to his patients to thin their blood to promote better circulation.
I'm interested in trying this supplement, but I wanted to know if anyone else is taking it and if anyone has had any bad reactions to it.
Thanks so much

Having taken both Lumbrokinase and Heparin, my vote is for heparin. While I hated the shots, I had tons of energy and clear thinking. It's been the best treatment for brain fog ever.
Lumbro is expensive and my insurance company didn't cover it. Heparin is covered.
There is no way to get any feedback on how it's working on the fibrinogen. My LLMD followed my clotting time while on heparin on a weekly and then monthly basis.
There's no test that I know of that can be done to check your progress on Lumbro. Plus I felt terrible while on it the entire time.
I suspect one issue is the bright red capsule that it comes in. I have an allergy to food dyes with red being the worst of the bunch.
While I heparin, I developed 6 fractured vertebrae. The pain was present BEFORE I started but I do have to wonder if heparin made my osteoporosis worse.
It's said that if you stay under 15,000 units it does not affect bone density. But I can't find that info anywhere in Pubmed.
Just my 2 cents, FWIW. Everyone is different and has different reactions to the same meds.

I just started taking Lumbrokinase last week. So far no bad reactions.
My LLMD says it might help in two ways:
1) blood thinning (as you mentioned)
2) it is thought that it *might* aid in dissolving biofilms that protect the Bb.
The hardest part of taking the lumbro for me is that my doc said that I should take it two hours apart (either before or after) from eating. So I have to have an early breakfast and late lunch for my morning dose to have two hours before, two hours after.
Then my other dose is easier--I just take it at bedtime. But no more bedtime snacks for me. Also, I have to eat dinner early enough that I'm not heading to bed less than two hours after dinner.

Is there a specific brand that doctors are recommending? If I am going to spend the money, I'd like to get something good.....

My husband's LLMD recommended the brand Emmla mentioned--Canada RNA. My husband is doing IV Rocephin. LLMD said it would help IV Rocephin get to the brain more effectively, and also prevent problems with clots in the port.
Emmmla, thanks for that link. That's about $15 less than I paid at another site!
