Ok, this may make me sound stupid, but are there only one group of bands in the western blot.
For the sake of making my ? easy lets say the bands are only 1,2,3,and 4.
So would there be lyme bands 1,2,3, and 4. And then Borellia bands 1,2,3 and 4.....and so on for coinfections.
Or is what I think and that there is only a single 1,2,3 and 4 and that maybe certain bands also indicate better possibilities of having other coinfections.
I just read somewhere a list of like 8 -10 bands that were realted to borrelia.
Just trying to figure this out. And quite frankly I can't read a lot. So I am sure lots of if not all of you know this answer.
Thanks so much......oh yeah, is it easy or lots of false negs for borrelia testing?

Not sure what you are asking...
There are 2 parts to a Lyme (which is Borellia) Western Blot test.
IGM and IGG.
Bands should be reported for both of these tests. Example...
I am realy trying to figure out the coinfections to see if any relate to my current symptoms.
I ran across Borrellia which I ignorantly thought was a coninfection, like babesia and bartonella.

Especially because while I was reading the symptoms and (obviously) there were so many I actually thought "gee, that's just like all the lyme symptoms". Yet it didn't click for me.
I hate this. I use to be smart and have common sense. I think I am losing it slowly.

I keep being told diff things about how to read it.
I was positive for IgM 23 and 41 ONLY. No IgG.
Now I have been sick since 93. And I actually read that people whom have been sick over a long period of time with Lyme will only test to IgM, not IgG for chronic Lyme.
But then others say the opposite. So confusing.

Lyme is a possibility for you. I'd also get tested for other things like Chlamydia Pneumonia, HHV-6, EBV and enterovirus for starters.

Hey you've got me beat by one band!
I tested reactive only for IgM band 23 via Quest.
Lyme specific no doubt.
A local doc had no problem diagnosing me with that and my symptoms.
Also, IgM may not always indicate a "new" infection.
It may be indicative of a long standing infection as well.
