I've been on IV Rocephin for 4 weeks (2 gm daily) and I got a call the other day from someone at my docs office saying my white blood cell count was low and told me to start taking Echinacea 4 days on and 3 days off.

Is this a typical side effect of rocecphin? Is echinacea an adequate plan of action to boost white blood cell count?

My WBC went way low and my LFT went sky high from week 4-8. I was told to ensure I took Actigall and the rest would sort itself out on its own and it did.

Jersey,

My husband's WBC count also dropped after a couple of weeks on Rocephin. LLMD recommended Oceana brand shark liver oil. There's a recent thread with recommendations for other brands as well:

Of course, follow your own LLMD's advice, but this may be something to ask about.

Best,
Viva

My white blood cell count fell dangerously low on rocephin, and my llmd finally switched me to doxy.
