Below is an E-mail forwarded from my LLMD. Brooke is the weather person 7-9 on the CW San Diego, California who was diagnosed with lyme sometime back.
In one of her interviews over the years she spoke about being bed ridden for a year during treatment. Lately she keeps that out of her interviews.
I don't know what her position on the CW was before she had lyme but now she's the weather person. The following e-mail is from her.
Hi there. I wanted to let you know that my station (the CW network -- Channel 6 -- in San Diego) will be covering Lyme Disease this Friday AND Sunday. Feel free to spread the word.
Our assignment desk was alerted about some research findings here locally and asked that I interview the researcher live on the air this Sunday morning (between 7am-9am).
In order to tie-in for the viewers, they will first run a story about my personal battle on Friday night -- 10pm show. I have asked that they include Dr. xxxx for this important piece, and she has agreed. So...we'll actually be covering Lyme Disease both Friday and Sunday.
It is my hope that the reporter on Friday night puts major focus on the controversy and medical politics we're all facing.
I am confident this will be great for the Lyme community at large. Feel free to let others know and tune-in.
Brooke

Please note. When I say "they" I'm referring to the narrator not Brooke.
"Lyme is the fattest spreading disease" They called Brooke's lyme case one of the worst cases seen. She remembers a tick bite than one year later she woke up and could not move.
For 14 years she was sick without diagnoses. For treatment they said she did Hyberic (sp?) oxygen chamber like 6to 8 times and now she's cured.
Brooke said 60 percent of blood tests are false negative and hers was for years.
Dr. LLMD was briefly interviewed by narrator. She spoke of how many people have lyme in CA who never left CA so it is here. The narrator spoke of the large demand there is for her specialty. That Dr. LLLMD has a waiting list of 300 plus.
They said Lyme disease is successfully treated with few weeks of antibiotics. Late stage is harder to treat. They also mentioned that Brooke's doctor lost his license for treating her because she did not have a positive lyme test.
Now she is cured because all her lyme tests come back normal.
In the end they said something like if you have been bitten by a tick or think you may have lyme disease go see a specialist.
I was disappointed they highlighted just her symptoms. Not the range of symptoms in general and how different they can be.
I was disappointed they didn't mention her being on antibiotics.
Before the segment they showed a preview of what was to come. They showed an arm with a picc line and something to be injected. They showed Brooke herself waiting in a doctors office.
Now my memory isn't that great but I could swear in other interviews, in the past, she talked about taking antibiotics for treatment plus chamber.
I don't think a doctor would loose his license for putting her in an oxygen chamber. I do know you need a doctors prescription for the chamber. I haven't looked into that. I'm sending Brooke an e-mail and asking her if she did antibiotics as well.
At the end the narrator says Brooke's doctors say she is clear of lyme disease because her tests show no sign of it.
Earlier Brooke states that the tests for lyme come back 60 percent false negative. Brooke herself says that her tests for years came back negative.
That was confusing to me, I'm sure it would be confusing to someone to the public.
Personally I was glad that some of my friends plus my Father and his girl friend didn't get the channel.
I can hear it now. You aren't paralyzed. So what's your problem. The Oxygen chamber cured her, it will cure you, what are you waiting for? They are like talking to a brick wall.
They tend to focus on the differences and make their argument on that. It's exhausting.
If anyone else out there has friends or family that think the same way, it was probably a good thing you didn't get the channel.
I love Brooke for putting herself out there. I bet if she had it her way she would air a candid version of her experience. All in all. It did get some awareness out there.
Sunday Brooke interviews the Reasearcher who claims there he has some new findings of Lyme disease. I'm curious what that is but at the same time I don't have my hopes up.
Part of me is thinking "watch he'll probably say 'I found that spirochete create biofilms to protect themselves'
I will let you know.

1) That she still suffers from pain and headaches.
2) That she officially never tested positive.
3)Tests show lyme is now gone from her system, although those tests are not reliable. She is feeling better now, and serves as a national spokesperson for lyme.
Apparently they decided to edit even more when for the news segment.
Interesting.
Anybody else see this last nite?

They totally edited this part with the LLMD interview out of the segment that was on air. I wonder if they'll soon edit this out of the website it's now on.
"Dr. LLMD volunteers her time because she so believes in the cause. "It's very complex, it's hard to keep up with, and there is a huge political battle going on. I don't blame anyone who doesn't want to get involved with that, but they can't be like an ostrich, bury your head in the sand and hope the ostrich goes away."
For her, "the thing that keeps me going is the number of people who do get better."
At least it's on the website I guess

I watched and, like you Fancy, I was a little disappointed that it talked mainly about Brooke and not much about other symptoms or treatments.
Still though, this seems huge to have it on the news and visible to the public. Most doctors I've seen in San Diego have either never heard of Lyme or they "don't believe in it".
Really good that this LLMD got to speak and not someone from one of the research hospitals located here.
