I found out 4 months ago I have Lyme. I made my husband and daughter get tested. They both have it too.
My husband and I have different symptoms, and I think it is because he is from the north and I am from the south, I think he has babs and I know I have Ehrlichia.
The question is, he has a horrible taste in his mouth. But, supposedly he doesn't have any sinus infection or drainage. I have taken him to the dentist and there are no issues there. Is this just a lyme thing, or could it be something else?
I am still learning, but I have never heard about this problem.
Thanks, Shalome

Yeah, I get that too. My guess is that it's just a feature of some immunologic/toxin-generating process common to many infections.

I've had that, too, at times during all this - even before the lyme was dx.
My hunch is that Adamm is right since his dentist says all is well there.
Are you all getting treatment yet? Some antibiotics (abx) can cause a bad taste in the mouth.
Liver support may be of help.
Massage or walking (or gentle bouncing on a mini-trampoline) can help move lymph tissue and that may be of some help.
Eating more leafy greens - for chlorophyl - will help. Perhaps taking charcoal tablets will, too.

This book, by an ILADS member LLMD, holds great information about treatments options and support measures:

I am taking antiboitics, but my husband is not. He hasn't seen the doctor, and we can't see him until March.
I think my husband IS having toxic overloads!! He is one of those people who when he sleeps at night, the sheets turn a yellowish/brown.
He will walk, but I don't know about the minitrap. I did it yesterday just because I had heard about it on this board so much.
I didn't even know they made charcoal tablets....are their side affects? I may get him some of those!
I have made a list of the Lyme books to read, currently the only one my local store had was Everything you need to know about Lyme Disease and Tick Borne Illnesses by Karen Vanderhorf-Forschner.
I do have your book on my list, I just can't read them all fast enough!!!
Thanks, Shalome

I had that horrible taste in my mouth for years until I got the lyme bacterial load down (I used rife machine). I'm sure it came from the gut bacteria overload.
Now I only experience it during a lyme herx cycle for a few days. It's not every cycle.
I hated that taste. I just kept after the brushing, peroxide brushing, tongue brushing, detoxed using chlorella.
Charcoal tabs and chlorella are both good detoxifers. It takes tons of them.

I have a bad taste in my mouth. Has to be Lyme. My dentist could find nothuing. It has gone from really nasty to tolerable over time.
Since your husband doesn't get to see a doc until March, now is a good time to strengthen his system. Get a good pharmacy grade multi and consider detoxing. The immune system really is an important tool in the fight against Lyme.

Remember that lyme patients often have elevated levels of heavy metals (mercury, etc.)
This could be part of the bad taste. If so, the leafy greens (or even added chlorophyl liquid or greens powders) will help as will charcoal.
This should be fine to do, within reason, while seeking a LLMD to assess your husband.
Also, using a waterpik can be helpful. Gums with xylitol do not promote tooth decay nor feed yeast or bacteria. But - too much will create some lower GI action.
I assume everyone's already drinking 8 - 10 glasses of filtered water a day.
You might check any meds to see if the cause dry mouth. That would decrease the saliva flow and create a bad taste.
Sjorgren's can do that, too. But, often Sjorgren's is just an umbrella term for undiagnosed chronic infection.

I have had a bad taste in my mouth due to poor kidney detoxing of infections. Kidney drainage herbals and homeopathics helped.

My husband had this.
So bad he wouldn't eat.
It got worse when he started treatment, so he thought
He shouldn't treat due to the bad mouth taste.
It finally evened out and went away.
Until he started lunesta for sleeping.
After a while it went away on Lunesta too.
