I have used one at a chiropractor's office for relieve of muscle pain, and it worked pretty well. I see you can buy small home units and am wondering if anybody has one.
I saw one by Medisana on woot for a good price, but don't know anything about that company. I also saw some on www.tensunits.com that look pretty professional.
If you have one, what brand/model is it, and was it covered by insurance?
Thanks, Steve

I think ins will cover it if it's prescribed by a physician.

Get your LLMD to write you a prescription for one, and pick it up at a medical supply store. Mine was a $15 copay and that's it. Good for life, just need replacement pads every now and then.

My first experience with a TENS unit was during Physical Therapy back when I was told all I had was fibromyalgia.
In this session, it was only 10 minutes long and I use to always think that it would be more beneficial a little longer. But they had a set protocol.
My doctor didn't want to precribe it since he chose to have me go to P.T. three times a week.
I was at a health fair and found a portable TENS machine that I definitely have relied on ever since. Mine is a Rhythm Touch and I LOVE it.
IF you can get it prescribed, that is the most ideal, but finding the doctor to do it is always sticky.
Good luck. I never tried to get insurance to cover mine since I didn't have a prescription for it, but used this instead of P.T. since those sessions were going no where anyway.
I still use it to this day. Infact, I have it on right now.

They are OK but it doesn't "heal" the pain. It changes your brain's perception of the pain for a while (I believe) - which makes it more bearable.
I think you can overdo it. I was at a physical therapist & they left it on too long... not good.
Also, be careful if you have any sensitivities to EMF.
You can buy them in UK at the drugstore - you don't need a prescription.

Your chiropractor should be able to order one for you. It was not very expensive ordering through him (under $50 I believe). The doc can also instruct you on proper placement and settings. You need to understand how to adjust it for different types of pain and injuries and areas of use.
