I am on Merrem and Lacted Ringers, added Septra about a week ago====horrible herx!!!

On Fridays I'm only supposed to do the LR IV, but take Flagyl 500mg 2x's daily, (only on Friday) Is it possible to have such a herx reaction after only one dose?????

About an hour or so after I took it, my muscles started hurting so bad, a headache that would be 20 on a scale of 1 to 10, then my joints, bones and skin became soooo painful!

I'm I just having a bad day, or can you really herx that fast?????

I'm really dreading taking tonights pill! I'm in a lot of pain now, but it seems like not as much.

Oh, and VERY hard to breath!!! That has been one of my top symptoms, but with the Flagyl it was rediculas.

Please give your thoughts on this or experiences.

Thank you so much! [confused]

i had to stop the flagyl after oh, about 4-5 days.

the headache was the kind where you curl in a ball, crying you eyes out.

plus my temples swelled and my vision blurred, like double of everything.

i stopped it immediately and won't take it again.

i still have a mild headache, but man, i'm afraid of that drug now.

I started flagyl at 250mg.

Three days in a row.

I bumped up to 500mg and then 750mg.

Ah yes, the headache from H E Double Hockey stick.

I still do one flagyl a week 750mg.

I am sure I am going back to the three day of pulsing.

It may be too much for you.

Some have to start with just a sliver.

Yes it is possible to herx that fast from a med.

However, flagyl can be a difficult and at times dangerous medicine for some.

So, I would be putting in a call to my LLMD just to be sure.

Hugs,

Geneal

Hi,

Thanks everyone!!! I just couldn't believe that I had herxed that fast and so horribly!! I have with IV but never a pill.

Randibear, I'm scared to death of it too!! I'm still sick and last nights pill I took right before I went to sleep praying that I would sleep through the herx---WRONG!!!! It woke me up 2 hours later, it was horrible!

Geneal, thank you for sharing your experience also. From what I've noticed from others also, 1000mg does seem like a lot. So I will call him on Monday. OOHHHHH, you sooo right, the headache for H**l and then some, and every part of your body from your skin down to the bones is incredably painful!!!

Why do you think the purpose it for doing it once a week??

Betty-----What in the world type of herx did you have on here that made them come looking for you?????? What happened???!!!!!

Thanks again y'all!

scared, i used search above trying to find my post that explained everything....NO LUCK!

short version:

think i typed something about not feeling good in subject

and then started typing how i was feeling with none of words making sense; misspellings galore, etc.

that's when i used to capalize beginning of sentences, etc.

anyway, i posted how i was feeling

then seeing red lights out of side vision then came blue lights, and dizziness.

i logged off and went to lay down for several hours. had just gotten up and there was a knock on front door.

those 2 good-looking young police men that tutu said i should have kept here awhile!! lol

they were called and asked to do a house check since i'd been on internet talkign to friends and they were worried about me. so they were checking things out.

took 3-5 days until i found out who had called local police, troutscout.

you would have enjoyed the post though because it was a GROUP EFFORT of folks trying to read me knowing my 1st name was betty and i lived somewhere in iowa.

someone out east had left a phone message for trout; he had met me at 1 lyme support meeting and knew what city i lived in, and then called local police.

that's my short story; but it was filled by LOVE BY MY SPECIAL LYMENET FAMILY OF FRIENDS whom i've gotten to know well since 4 years ago when this happened THIS MONTH! [group hug] [kiss]

editing to add this IMPORTANT INFO:
***********************************

please make sure there are 2 people on this board who know your full name, street/city address, and PHONE NO. so if we need to reach you, we can or give to local police to do a HOME CHECK on you ok!! THANKS!
