Anyone have shortness of breath with just a small increase in activity? I get winded just walking up my stairs.
However, yesterday, I was able to walk (slowly) for a 2 mile walk.
I usually get the palps and rapid heart rate, however this shortness of breath I don't remember.
I was symptom free and weaned off..after 3 months, symptoms came creeping back..so here I am Back on meds for bart/babs...haven't felt this bad in months!

I too get shortness of breath. Climbing alot of stairs is the worst! This is a very common symptom.
I'm sorry that your sickness is back, but the fact that you were able to beat it once is a good sign that you'll be able to do it again!
Just keep on fighting and this time maybe stay on the meds longer, even after you feel your better.
Also if you don't get all the answers you were hoping for (but you might) don't take it to heart, alot of times newer people get overlooked, which is sad.
But hopefully people will respond and you will get the reassurance you need. Posts: 42 | From new york | Registered: Nov 2007

Thanks-I get so worried with the heart stuff. I think I am having a babs relapse.

beth, it's always good to be very SPECIFIC in subject line what you will be talking about ...
example, short of breath; do you have to; why?
then it grabs their attention; they will join in IF they have that problem.
we have an extremely busy board; can't read them all here; no way.

Beth, My heart started acting up 2 weeks ago, at the time I was also having night sweats again. Now I'm sure it was the babs. the sweats have stopped and the heart thing, so I guess I can look forward to this in a few weeks (I'm currently not on meds, waiting to see new LLMD next month).
The heart stuff is SO scary, I can handle pain OK, but hate the heart thing.

Hi Beth, I have the shortness of breath too. My LLMD ran some heart tests to make sure it wasn't a heart problem. They came back normal BUT, please check with your dr. to rule out heart issues first.
I have lyme and babesia. The shortness of breath is worse during a herx.
Does anyone know why babs patients get shortness of breath? How lungs are affected?

When I first got sick, I had an echo, due to a racing heart-it was fine. I had another echo around this time last year-showed a mitral valve prolapse, which is common in the general population, and my EKG showed a right bundle branch block. My EKG last July was normal(?).
The shortness of breath with just a little activity really freaks me out, plus my heart races.
