i did not have the rupture but i had such severe pain that i stopped it. i could barely walk.

it took weeks for it to go away. my doc wasn't happy when i stopped it, but i insisted.

If you are taking Levaquin and this happened to you, you need to STOP the levaquin QUICK.

Yes, Levaquin can cause tendon issues. I've never been on Levaquin myself.

My PCP warned me about this happening with Cipro. Sister's doc told her the same thing.

This is a good time for me to post an update on my attempt to only take 1/8 pill of Levaquin, staggered 3-4 days/week.

Well, even that screwed me up! I took my last 1/8 pill on a Wed, felt good Fri and went shopping for hours. My tendons felt fine while I was out. That evening, I had bad pains in both achilles, and was afraid I had done damage to myself. That was 10 days ago, and I'm still getting pains and hobbling around, but not as severe.

Pain is one thing, but I could have unwittingly done damage with all my walking. And my body gave me no clue that I was over-doing it, until hours later! Not worth it. Learn a lesson from me, and stop if you feel any tendon pain.

I had read in Singleton's book that if tendon pain occurs, stop and try to resume at a lower dose. That made sense to me, but it just didn't work out.

I've also read that tendon problems can happen for a long time after stopping the drug.

Sorry I don't have a source or link for comment, but you might want to search a bit on that time period and be very careful with tendons even after stopping the Rx.

It's very common when taking those drugs, and it means that you have to get off of them NOW, before something far worse happens.

I've been on levaquin for a long time. No problems except for a very short period of time and I have reason to believe it was something else that caused the problem.

I've heard that those who take it should start magnesium well before they start the levaquin. I take quite a bit of magnesium and did long before I started levaquin.

I did notice that my muscles were sorer after starting it. They still are. Apparently that's not unusual.

If I had a really sore muscle, I'd stop.
