It takes 60 degrees centigrade (140 degrees Fahrenheit) for 10 hours to clear HIV and other viruses from donated blood.

Whoa.

It looks like Clorax can kill HIV (google it) too, though Clorax can NOT be consumed. It can be used to sterilize countertops, etc.

I don't think I'd ever try Dakin's Solution to cure thrush though. Yuck.

And this old remedy (also used to prevent contraception):

d-limonene...very powerful.

Speaking of which, since many of us are diagnosed clinically with co-infections despite negative testing, there shouldn't be a problem with being a blood donor, right?

If the CDC considers us negative, that's good enough for me and has never prevented me from giving blood. Am I wrong?

Jon, it may be good enough for the CBC, but to me it's kind of the wrong thing to do. It's got moral consequences. On one side, you could save a life = a great thing! On the other, you could make someone's life a living hell where they wish they were dead if given a TBD = a very bad thing. Truly a double-edged sword.

Seek,

I don't respond to antibiotics, so therefore I must not have the illness. My insurance won't cover IV meds so I can't have Lyme.

I checked my morals when I was denied LTD from my company, the company I worked at for 10 years since graduating college.

I play by their rules now which means anything goes; I guess you (or anyone for that matter) should not have to worry about me infecting others since I am CDC negative.

You see? I play by their rules since they're the ones who make them up as they go along. Best of health.

jon- i had previously donated blood and pray that no one ever got it, hope it expired on a shelf and would not infect anyone else. i wou ld not wish this on my enemy

i hope you are able to read posted links and not let the hate of CDC cloud your own judgement...best wishes..not trying to be mean, rude or anything else. As a medical professional i know the system is broke. but i have seen theses folks in ICU who have to get 2,3,4 pints of blood and are at deaths door as it is, giving an infection to someone hanging on to life is not what anyone deserves.

i had always had a stand to be an organ donor, cant do that now, but would be happy to throw this body to science..let them figure it out.

wish you best health

Hi. It can be transmitted via blood. As soon as I was dx'd I called the blood bank. They didn't use all of my donations but one and they swore they would track it down. I am not eligible to give blood for a year I think, but knowing what I know now, I won't give again except to myself.

LLMD says that there is a serious problem with passing Babesia through our blood supply. It survives through the entire process of blood storage. Many people don't even know they have it. Like most of us before we found out what was really wrong with us.

Lyme is different. It cannot survive the temperatures at which the blood is stored.

So it makes sense that if you have LD, you should not ever give blood, since most with LD also have Babs as a co-infection.

Also, many people that need blood are already very ill and when you add in Babesia, that is what ends up killing them.

Cactus, well you got me. I do however, have better things to do with my limited time than make over 1,100 posts to a chronic disease board. See, I can do the search thing too. And then there's others who have 22,000+ posts by their name which roughly translates to nine posts a day? Loco, muy loco. You wrote "LLMDs are amazing diagnosticians and if it's not Lyme they will find the source." Since what I have doesn't appear to be tick related, THAT is why I'm going to see RS. I also have many positive bands in my WB but the CDC says I'm negative and treatment with antibiotics have failed. THAT is why I'm going to see RS. Capice? I won't post anymore, not worth it, but I don't appear to have Babesia in any form; I guess hope the testing is valid or there's some sick Irish blood floating around and more to come; much more to come and I'm not violating any rules or laws.....on this matter anyway.

5 posts on the board and this is your comment(s)? Well, good luck wherever you treat. I understand your frustration. We all live w/our decisions one way or the other. You question whether the testing is valid....hmmmmm. I doubt the CDC would care if the whole blood supply was infected.
