As I recall, there was a lyme book I read where two people got rid of lyme by taking a three week break after a course of antibiotics, allowed lyme to fully return, then resumed antibiotics and fully recovered.

Anyone tried that? Any credence to this story? I can't remember the name of the book.

In Cure Unknown there is some mention that author and both dr b got beter by treating till better, stopping, backsliding all the way, and then treating again. This was repeated three times. As with all Lyme treatments your results may vary.

Atleast this is what my lyme brain recalls at the moment. Please correct me if I am wrong! I seem to recall they used a particular antibiotic too when they did this.

I think it was longer, maybe three months? Lyme is slow growing so that makes sense.

rad is correct. The book was "Cure Unknown". It wasn't 3 weeks that they went of abx but exactly as rad described, the procedure was repeated 3X's.

No description of how long it took for each backslide in the book. It probably varies depending on the person.

I read that in Cure Unknown, and I wondered if that would still be recommended. Some abx are better at intracellular penetration, and abx that are cell wall drugs (Ceftin) are useless against CWD forms.

My son made great progess on Ceftin, and then switched to Omnicef and even Rocephin without too much to show (all those are cephalosporins). Even after all those months on cephalosporins, just one dose of macrolide would produce a herx within 2 hours.

Hi all you lovely people,

My 7-yr-old son was bit Oct. 15th and been on ABX since late November. Dr. H has told me to give him a 7-10 day break from the Zithromax before we put him on something else.

Is that short of a ABX break useful in your opinions?
