Hi,

My husband has been displaying Lyme-like symptoms the past couple of months. I'm worried that he got Lyme from me.

For example, his body temp ranges from 96.0-97.4. This morning I had him take it and it was 97.1. It seems to get lower, in the evening, it's often 96.

I had a low body temp the second year with Lyme (first year I had a constant fever).

When we are driving, he will forget where he is going, he can't remember things, ect.

I received the test kits from Igenex for the kids, but I'm wondering now if I should order another for him.

Sigh...

Anyone else have a partner with Lyme, or symptoms?

Thanks,
Ocean

Most of us do. My husband does and so do I. But I'm still on the fence about giving it through intercourse. I believe most of the population have lyme but don't know it.... and then those who are asymptomatic eventually start showing symptoms... and when a partner does, the other one automatically thinks 'oh no, I gave my partner lyme!!!!' when it really didn't happen that way and they already had lyme in their system but were just not showing symptoms of it.

Yes, my husband and I are both very ill with Lyme. Makes for a completely non functional family; our kids pretty much have to raise themselves.

We both got it independently from one another from tick bites. I do not believe it is sexually transmitted. I have too many friends with Lyme whose partners are fine.

I have been ill for 30 years and my husband has had symptoms for 5 - 10 years. We were diagnosed about 4 years ago.

My sons (age 18 & 22) have congenital Lyme & co-infections.

Just curious what your doctors said about it being passed to your partners. Do they think it is possible?

Thanks.

Me and my boyfriend have both Lyme. We didn't get it from each other but we are very couscious cause I'm even afraid of passing different strains or coinfections since I got it in Italy and he is from Mass. Maybe I'm overworried but I don't want to take risks.

Even if lyme is passed sexually, it's HIGHLY unlikely that co-infections are at all....

Co-infections are not even spirochetal whereas lyme is.

My husband has never had lyme symptoms, although I have had it most of my life, we have been together for 25 years, and been to most of the same places.

He has been tick bitten by more ticks in more indemic places than I have. I can't imagine that he doesn't have lyme, but never any reason to blood test or treat so far, since he's not interested. Energetic testing also shows nothing.

Seems that some people have the ability to fight it off, and others get hit hard.

yep, bejoy, some people's immune systems are able to keep it under control better than others.

Maybe not fight it off ENTIRELY, but their body is able to keep it at a low level or keep it from harming the body.

Thanks for your replies! Yes, we both were tested elecrodermally in 2007. I showed up positive for Lyme and Babs, he had nothing.

It MAY just be his thyroid. He also has type one diabetes which is an endocrine issue. His mother has had thyroid issues as well.

I hope that he doesn't have Lyme... sigh... I'm going to make sure he asks his endocrinologist to check his thyroid labs, make sure she does T3 as well as T4 and TSH.

That stinks for all of you whose partners also have it. I'm counting on him to be the strong one during my treatment.

Take care,
Ocean

My husband has Lyme, but I think he got in when he was little and I got it when I was little.

I do think that we keep re-infecting each other though because we both keep having positive Lyme WB IGMs.

I don't see why it couldn't be passed through intercourse, most everything else is. Our ID said it couldn't, but they also said it couldn't go to my child, and it has.

Thanks,
Shalome

We both have it too! It's horrible when we are both falling apart, and then you mix the kids' Lyme too, and yep we couldn't be more messed up!

I pray A LOT!

My hubby has it. I think he got it from me. My LLMD says lyme and co-infections can all be transmitted at least congenitally, because of the type of pathogens they are.

My husband and I have it.

Have two young children with congenital Lyme as well.

I think it more likely that my husband passed it to me.

If that is a possibility.

My LLMD says no.

However, my brain says it must be a possibility.

Laura, we can all fall apart together.

My husband and I both test positive.

He has other health issues, and doesn't seem to have many Lyme symptoms.

His CD-57 test is way better than mine!

Best,

I finally realized that I didn't have MS, when my husband started getting some of the same neuro/muscle symptoms I had been experiencing for months.

We both have numerous exposure to tick bites...but I have felt some guilt that I could have passed it to him. He is not nearly as sick as I am.

Yeah, my husband isn't as sick as I am/ever was either. He's also never had rashes like I had. I have my appointment 3 weeks from today, I may just ask my new LLMD about it, maybe he will test him.

Thanks for all of your replies!!!

My LLMD doesn't think it is transmitted sexually either. My hubby does not have any symptoms and has not been tested. He has actually been in tick infested areas way more than me.

We keep wondering if he should get tested, just in case. Maybe he is just not symptomatic.

I wonder why so many LLMD's don't think it's possible when it is a spirochete like Syphlis?

My husband and I have been together for 10 years and he just started showing these symptoms in the past few months. So sutherngrl, your hubby could just be asymptomatic for now. I've told my husband that he may have gotten it from his mom who has a lot of joint issues (she's 59), thryoid issues in her 30's, 2 miscarriages, ect. My husband has type 1 diabetes, his older sister is anorexic (which I've read can be caused from Lyme) and his little brother has had a lot of stomach issues his whole life.

It's so hard to know, esp when most people can't or won't get Igenex tests due to lack of insurance payment.

Take care,
Ocean

I've been tested and came back CDC +, my 15 yr old daughter has been tested and came back CDC +.
So far, my husband and two younger kids have not been tested.. waiting for the money to be able to do so. But my husband has been told by my LLMD that he does have subclinical Lyme. He muscle tested positive.

My husbands only symptoms are knees that swell from time to time, a slight tremor and occasional memory problems.
My little two have definate symptoms.

My LLMD is confident that they all got it from me.

My wife and I both have lyme. But we do not think one gave it to the other. We both spent out youth outdoors in NY.

My wife insists it can be passed. I am not sure. Our LLMD is neutral saying it hasn't been proven either way.

Our six year old tests positive. We are certain that she got that at birth.

Cheers,
Bill
