I am having stomach issues, and they might do an endoscopy on me if the abx does not kill the h.pylori. Last time I had anestisia, my lyme came out of dormacy and I was in hell. I have healed somewhat since 1.5 yrs of treatment, and now I am so scared about having anestisa again. Can they do local or does it have to be full anestesuia. My llmd said I can take a drug , begins with a D, not sure what it is (I wrote it down somewhere in my notes). Anyways, what do you guys say? Jenin

I just recently had an endoscopy and they gave me the option of sedation or not. So I do not think you HAVE to be put to sleep.
Also they do not fully put you out anyway, they call it twilight sleep so its different than with a major surgery. You are pretty much physically awake, but when the procedure is done you don't remember it.
I bet the med they said was diazepam? They gave me that option too, its just valium, it helps calm you during the procedure.
Mostly it is a quick procedure and the worst part is the swallowing feeling during it, so you should do fine with out being put to sleep, in my opinion anyway.

I was partly conscious when I had an endoscopy.
I vaguely remember parts of it, but not much. Had a little bit of a sore throat afterwards.
If you have access to a Rife machine you can kill H-Pylori in the stomach using the 676hz frequency. You have to repeat it once a day for a week.

I had an endoscopy done a couple years ago without any form of sedation or drugs. It wasn't a pleasant experience but I survived with lots of gagging and tears. I had to do it without drugs because I had further GI neuro testing done that day and the results might have been altered by medication.
As others have said above, ask your doctor about conscious sedation. It would be a good alternative to full anesthesia.
