My husband died Thursday night in his sleep. I would like to set up a fund for people to make donations to. Can someone please tell me the best organization for this - Lyme Disease Assocation? And how I need to do this?

Thank you for your help. I'm sure I could find this, but I'm a mess right now.

Thank you.

Hi smjkoj,

I am so very sorry for the loss of your husband. You must be so overwhelmed right now.

I think the lyme disease association is one of the best from what I can see.

It is very kind of you to think of this at such a difficult time.

God Bless, you will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Take care.

Oh bless your heart, I can't tell you how sorry I am. I know that doesn't make it any easier for you, but please know that we are all here for you. Please use us to lean on and talk too---oh honey I'm sorry.

God bless you for wanting to do this! My guess is this is exactly what he would want and is smiling with pride upon you. May God be with you and yours always, but especially in your time of need.

My response I guess would be the same as Dekrater. I have wanted to start something like this for years, but like you; I'm not sure how to start it also. Ya know, if I remember right and I could be totally mistaken--------but Dr. Jones in CT. started a fund for children with Lyme. The whole office is very sweet and maybe helpful with some suggestions???

I don't know and I'm sorry, but I think these 2 places would be a good place to start. If we can help in anyway, PLEASE let us know by posting of PMing us.

God bless you dear. You and yours will certainly be in my prayers.

How horrible for you, I am so very sorry.

I think Dr. Jones Legal Fund and Turn the Corner Foundation are excellent possibilities as well. I believe the Turn the Corner Foundation funds the Lyme Aid for Kids.

I am so, so sorry for the loss of your husband. There are just no words to express the sympathy and concern we're all feeling for you.

Please do come here to talk, and lean on us.

My husband and I have discussed making donations to LDA and to ILADS. ILADS is the first choice.

Here is their page about donations: http://tinyurl.com/dnhjkx

If you need assistance with any of the specifics, many here will be honored to help you in any way we can.

We are all very sorry to hear of your loss.

Just curious will there be any autopsy and if so will that look at infectious diseases such as Lyme, Babesia etc.

In the end this may be your greatest contribution-- is the truth of why your husband died.

It is well known that people have had strokes and heart failure from Lyme and Babesia.

God Bless you and your family.

smj.... [group hug] [kiss]

my heartfelt sympathies to you on the SUDDEN loss of your beloved husband!! wow, he went so soon after your update 10 days ago!

the above have given what i would have suggested too. if you decide to go with the LDA, you can also

email PRES. PAT SMITH, [email protected]

i'll enclose my sympathy poem collection to help you thru your deep loss, sorrow, and grieving period; may you find some that really touch your heart as they have me.

i think the I'M FREE AT LAST would be so appropriate for a chronic lyme death for all we've been thru over the years.

Written by Jon Foreman Of Switchfoot:

The flowers cut and brought inside
Black cars in a single line
Your family in suits and ties
And you're free

The ache I feel inside
Is where the life has left your eyes
I'm alone for our last goodbye
But you're free

I remember you like yesterday
Yesterday
I still can't believe you're gone
Oh I remember you like yesterday
Yesterday
And until I'm with you, I carry on

Adrift on your ocean floor
I feel weightless numb and sore
A part of you and me is torn
You're free

I woke from a dream last night
I dreamt that you were by my side
Reminding me I still had life
In me

I remember you like yesterday
Yesterday
I still can't believe you're gone
Oh I remember you like yesterday
Yesterday
And until I'm with you, I carry on

I'll carry on, I'll carry on

Every lament is a love song
Yesterday, yesterday
I still can't believe you're gone

Every lament is a love song
Yesterday, yesterday
So long my friend, so long

I'm so, so sorry. :-( This breaks my heart. You and your family will be in my prayers.

I would like to post this. It's beautiful and reading it made me tear up:

You can shed tears that he is gone,
or you can smile because he has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that he'll come back,
or you can open your eyes and see all he's left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see him,
or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember him, only that he is gone,
or you can cherish his memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind,
be empty and turn your back
Or you can do what he'd want:
smile, open your eyes, love, and go on.
~ David Harkins

Thank you Bettyg!!!!

It's been about two hours since I posted and I can't sleep. I keep getting angry, then crying. I then go to all of the sites posted to reads about yhe IDSA guidelines and all suggestions on how and what to address in a letter.

Them I try to compswe a letter and I CAN'T!!!!!!!!! I can't seem to put my thoghts, my words,-----can't even strat it!!!!!!!!!!! WHY???!!!

I'm sorry its just that I;m so upset right now, but i know complaining doesn't help any. It's just that there was a time that I cuold write a porfessional letter, abfter staying up all night doing research to back the letter. Now----I'ts hard to post right now.

I hate waht is happening to people. And most want to uren their heads to it all untill they have a faimly member orf them themselves are infected. Why!!!!??????? I honestly don't understa nd!

Some say money-----------sorry, cant' except that one. There is no amount of mon ey can replace a lost life ofr quility of life.

Polotics-----Nope, I can't except that either!!! Bavere has there been a time when all agree on any one issuse.

Oh I'm sorry, i can see all of the mistakes im making but i can't correct them right now.

Betty----Please pray that the Lord will opens the eves of so many woh are responsa ble or have a pert in patients not being diagnosed right, having correct treatment,---yhou know.

God bless you all

To my friends,

You all are such a blessing. Thank you for these words. I will read them again later on because everything is just a haze for me. I'm still in disbelief and the heartache is unimaginable. You know what Karl was going through, though. I know he is free of his messed up body and is healthy and whole again.

Karl was only 34. Way to young to die. He started with this in January 2008. Never did we think he would be dead a year later.

I'm going to keep fighting this fight for him because no one deserves this. They did an autopsy and found no cause. They are now doing toxicology. It's such a nightmare because I want to scream at them what the cause is, but they will never listen.

I will post the obituary notice. His funeral is scheduled for this Saturday. His parents were on vacation and I had to wait until they could get flights back to plan anything.

Peace be with you.

In Memory of Karl Joedicke
