Hi Gang!

Just wanted to ask what is the best combination to treat bart and babs at the same time. Or do I have to battle bart first.
Background: I have done the Wheldon cap for cpn for 8 month(Doxy 200, Zithro 250 Mo/We/Fr + Tini pulses).
Then we found out that I am bartonella positive. That is why we changed my protocol to Rifampin 900 + Zithro.500 p.d + Tini Pulses. I started 5 weeks ago and I feel horrible.
How long does it take to feel improvements?

I am also suspecting babs because I have very strong night sweats, dark urine, air hunger , diarrhea.
The other reason why I suspect babs is, that my awfullst herx was on clindamycin for three days -but after three days getting much better.
Also tini helps me - but only for 3- 5 days after a 5 day pulse.
The babs test was negative - but the tests here in germany are not very good for babs.

Might it be agood idea to change to bactrim and rifampin+artemisinin to cover both?

Please share your experiences.

Thanks in advance.

Bumping up for help.

I did each co-infection at a time.

Hugs,

I did Malarone and Zith for several months and now doing Mepron and Zith.

I took 600mg of Zith a day, and I'm pretty tiny. For me both Malarone and Mepron have taken care of babs and the Zith cleared the Bart.

My LLMD says Bactrim hits both babs and bart.

I take bactrim with zith 4 days a week, then malarone/zith 3 days and keep rotating. Helped me turn the corner!

My LLMD told us you must treat Lyme and all co infections at the same time or you will never get better.

After 40 days both me and my wife have seen some significant improvements.

Positive 10 bands WB IGG & IGM
+ Babesia + Bartonolla and NOW RMSF 3/5/09 all at Quest

And still positive ELISA and WB two years after IV treatment

Anyone took bactrim + rifampin + artemisinin + tini at the same time for bart + babs ?

This might be a good combination for both - or?

Amanda, why should you not take Mepron and Levequin at the same time? I was taking both but had to stop Lev bc of worsening joint pain.

I think levaquin decreases the effect of mepron.

Shoot, I'm allergic to bactrim and I NEED levaquin, but I'm also suffering terribly from babs so I'm on mepron/zith. This stinks.

lymelady,

my protocol is mepron/biaxin/bactrim/clindamycin and soon to add primaquine and alinia. I might reconsider the primaquine and alinia, we'll see how I do on this massive amount of babs meds! You might want to consider clindamycin. I think this combo is helping, along with incresing my dosage of mepron.

I want to clarify that I am still fighting babs. Haven't been able to beat this one yet, but I don't feel Bart is a problem for me anymore.

Dr. Burrescano has warned about this in various presentations. I heard his lecture in Sept 08 and there He suggested treating bart first b/c it's his theory that if Levaquin (his first choice for bart) is taken after treatment with Mepron, apparently the Levaquin is less effective on the bart.
