I've been taking 200 mgs. of doxy per day for a long time. I added 200 mgs. plaquenil (Hydroxy chlsulf) several days ago. My hands got so swollen, painful and bright red that I had to stop. I also feel pretty awful. Does anyone know if this is an allergic rection or a herx? I don't see this reaction anywhere inthe side effects of plaquenil
I lierally couldn't open or close my hands. This is the second day off of the plaquenil and I still feel terrible. My hands are a little better but get really bad at night.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

No idea why its causing this like this, but hopefully it will go away. When I first started plaquenil (200mg per day), I had a very bad reaction, a lot of itchiness and discomfort. But it subsided after a couple of weeks. Not sure why this happened, but I'm glad I stayed with it, because I think its working pretty well now.

The itchiness sounds like a med reaction, the hands sounds like a herx. Both my son and wife get the claw hands when they are really hurting.
