I am going to do an endoscopy next week . I was tested positive for h. pylori, and the prevpac abx did not work, so now I need an endoscopy. My llmd told me to have the GI doc take a biopsy to check for lyme and send it to igenex. He wrote something up for the Gi doc, but I need to ask this guy to do this, and since he is a quack, how should I ask him to convince him to do this for me?
anyone have advice on this, I don't want him to refuse, I will be so upset.
Jenin

It shouldn't be a problem.

Give him the paper from your LLMD, explain that your other doc has asked to have specimens biopsied at this lab, and on the day of the procedure, give him the specimen collection kit from Igenex.

He'll probably have you mention it to the nurses as well.

I had to mail my own specimen, so be prepared for that one.

Other than that, you shouldn't run into any trouble.

Good luck.

Google Martin Fried, MD.

See if he has any articles on lyme and Bart in GI and where he biopsies.

If you find a number, call his office and ask.

He bipsied my daughter in several locations of the upper GI tract and the stomach several years ago when he was in Neptune, New Jersey. But, he's relocated and I think only does children.

But he tested for more then just Lyme. Thank goodness because it was Bart she PCR'd positive for.

He did not send the samples to Igenex but I suppose that would be okay. I think he sent to MDL, Medical Diagnostics Lab.

But, he needs quidance...where to biopsy and for what. See if you can locate any articles on Frieds work.

Take Care,

As long as they actually send it to Igenex, it might be useful.

do you have celiac disease? allergies to WHEAT, rye, barley, oats?

if you don't know, when they do endoscopy, they can BIOPSY that area for CELIAC so you know 100% you have wheat/celiac allergies!!

i didn't know that then; wished i would have done it then! good luck.

IF the biopsy for celiac, you need to have been eating wheat for a certain number of days first.

AND - as for a lyme biopsy, you would also need to be sure the specimen would be handled correctly every step of the way from your stomach to Igenex. Make sure to have instructions with the kit, etc.
