What is the minimum dosage for artemesinin? My LLMD prescribed 300mg 2x/day of the Holly Pharma brand, pulsing 1 week on/1 week off.

I took my 1st dose this morning, and am really scared about getting an unbearable herx and/or side effects...especially after just reading a post that the Holley brand is double the strength of most others.

Of course if I have a bad reaction, I will call my LLMD. But I also want to get some input in advance, since I historically have had a bad reaction to most herbals. I usually end up having to lower the dose and then ramp up (if tolerated).

If I suddenly get very sick on the artemesinin, what is the minimum dose to take to still get a therapeutic effect and prevent resistence?...(while I'm waiting to hear back from my LLMD of course!)

Thanks!

I think everyone's different. I get terrible reactions from just 300 mg a day. I am currently taking just 100 mg a day and I'm still having bad reactions.

You will probably have to adjust based on how your body reacts. That's what I have had to do.

Good luck! - Lymelady

I was on 300mg/day of the Holley brand and it didn't seem to really do much, so I've switched to another brand (Hepalin) recommended by another poster here. I'm taking only 1 capsule (100mg)/day and I don't seem to be getting worse... It's only been a week or so, so it's hard to say right now how effective it will be, but I was on the Holley brand for almost a year without getting well, so I figured it was worth trying another brand.

I guess I could have tried a higher dose of the Holley art, but since this other poster said he got rid of babs with only 1 capsule/day of the Hepalin taken for 6 months, I decided to give it a try.

In my experience, the Nutricology "Super Artemisinin", which I got from iherb.com, is more powerful than Holley brand. But who knows...could just be because I did the latter first?

In Dr. Kenneth Singleton's book, he says minimum for artemisinin is 300mg daily. He recommends 100-200mg three times daily.

Hope that helps answer your question. I had to start at a very very low dose, opening up capsules and dumping some out. Seems like everyone processes it differently.

I am up to 1200mg and have felt nothing. Is this a sign that Babesia isnt in the formula?
