Ann, I agree. Let's what this film is about. We have to at least see it. But I think it is certainly a place to get the word out, hand out
literature and educate the public.

After my discussion with them my gut feeling was
that was the implied
objective $$$. Can't fault them there. I received a
response from Open Eye saying they have not yet seen
the film so they are unable to provide any comments.
We'll have to see it for ourselves and made our
own judgments.

Well, as a film of thirty years ago, I'm going to call it a "period film", so the extent of Lyme Disease knowledge portrayed in the film would reflect the period.

I saw this movie at Sundance. This thread (in medical) is a lot of energy being put into conjecture from a trailer. And to repeat what tainabell wrote, and defend it, even though I didn't like it much:
It is not a comedy.
Lyme Disease is a secondary story.
It takes Lyme Disease very very seriously and is the most accurate portrayal of LD I've seen in "entertainment."
It portrays Lyme Disease as a ruiner of lives.
The director said the Lyme character was based on a family friend whose life was devastated by Lyme, and that Lyme is similar to syphillis and that it ravages brains. So, he must have some knowledge of it.
Period.

It just seems to me that people jump to major conclusions whenever the word Lyme comes into the spotlight within the media.
I understand it's been hashed out, but that doesn't mean that people weren't jumping to conclusions based on a trailer that they refused to interpret correctly.
The title of the post makes the movie look bad. Perhaps if everything has been hashed out and understood the title should be changed. It is also not a medical question and should be moved onto a different board since that seems to be a big issue here lately.
It just seems like many members think everyone is out to get them, and out to get Lyme. It's getting really aggravating.

This movie looks great. I love all the actors and I especially love when he says "this bug the size of a pimple could ruin somebody's life", really hit's the nail on the head!
