I was watching The Real Housewives of NYC (ok, I admit it)

Anyway - 2 of the featured housewives have teenage daughters with arthritis diagnosis, and the show features these families vacationing in the Hamptons every summer...

I wonder if it's really Lyme?

I'm sure it is caused by Lyme. Thanks for letting me know about a new show to watch! I have it scheduled to record. I used to watch Real Housewives of Orange County.

I think it has to be Lyme too - one of the wives is hosting a charity benefit for her daughter's arthritis ...

I wish they knew about Lyme disease (and of course believed in it and understood it and the controversy and did a benefit for Lyme instead!)

So funny you mentioned this! I saw the show last night and was thinking the exact same thing. Well, guess I can maybe add this show to my bandwagon of shows to write into. It couldn't hurt.

I was watching Real Housewives of NYC last season too, and I remember in one episode Jill (the red-head) sent her daughter to some kind of overnight camp/health clinic for kids with health issues, and the manner in which they were being very evasive about what exactly was going on with her (it was kind of like a 'mystery diagnosis"....something she'll grow out of thing), reminded me of when I was first sick, and how my parents were addressing it. So when I saw that last season, i thought, Lyme.

They didn't really list her symptoms exactly, but said she was going through something and she needed to "focus on herself" because of fatigue/vague symptoms, something like that. But it wasn't condescending, they just really didn't know what it was, and wanted to help her.

I confess that I love this show too.

Jill's daughter (Allie) is the only one I remember who has arthritis. The name of the second teenager with arthritis is escaping me. Can someone please help me remember?

I hadn't thought of Lyme until you mentioned it Larkspur, but I bet you are right. I gather the families on this show have been vacationing in the Hamptoms for years.

On this weeks episode some of the wives went out to lunch and the blonde housewife - Ramona mentioned that her daughter (Avery) also had arthritis.

The context was that Jill wanted Ramona to help her with a Juvenille Arthritis charity event for her daughter and Ramona was like "no I'm too busy even though my daughter has the same thing"
which of course made Jill angry - drama!

I beleive the Hamptons is where Amy Tan has said she contracted Lyme.

Because I have nothing better to do, I googled to see if anyone else was discussing this online and found:

"Jill Zarin's teenage daughter Allyson and stepson Jonathan both suffer from arthritis"

very interesting....

Hi, I saw same episodes. Jill more worried about her Weight.
When her mother just touched her, she said ouch.
Usually what Fmers say..Was not on major bone.

1st thought was FMer/Lymie
Hampton's here are tick loaded on Health channel

I was going to blog her or something with all there $$$ can afford testing/&treatment.
Felt sorry for her, by misunderstanding.

She could do Lyme fundraisers.
Good coverage for Lyme.

Thank you Larkspur for cluing me in. I still don't remember that part of the show even though I was glued to my TV.

Unfortunately my memory is really suffering, but even so, I love to watch.

I don't care for the OC one or the one from Atlanta, but the NY ladies are interesting.

I hope these young ladies get tested and treated.

I sent Jill an email using the address:

[email protected]

I found that on her website.
