So, I called Igenex today. My results were faxed yesterday. I asked them for a copy of the results, and she said my doc would have to go over them with me. Its a CDX. I know that.
However, with the help of you all and Dr. C's explanation I feel confident I can read it. So, I called and emailed my doc asking him to fax me the results. I am so freaking ANXIOUS that I am wearing a hole in my office floor!!
So, based on ya'lls experience, do you have to wait to see the doc? My follow up is a week away. Seriously, I wish I wouldnt have called if I have to wait another week knowing they know! Thats torture for me. I would rather be gagged with a barbie doll then that! HA.
Breathe Jaimie, Breathe!!!

Your follow up next week: is that with a LLMD? Or with your regular PCP?
If with a LLMD, don't worry. whatever the test resuts, whatever your symptoms, a solution will be investigated.
If with your regular PCP, you need to get a LLMD, regardless of the tests.
Whatever the results, you obviously still have symptoms and whatever it takes to achieve wellness is going to be your route, anyway. The best you can do now is just take care of yourself and maybe try to distract yourself until next week.
I believe most doctors, other than LLMD, have NO IDEA how to read the results, other than pos or negative.
It really is hard to wait. This disease teaches patience.

Oh, Jamie - well, glad you have a lyme-friendly doctor. That will help.
You said: "I asked them for a copy of the results, and she said my doc would have to go over them with me."
-
Who is "them" ? Igenex?
Or did you call your doctor's office and ask for a copy now?
If so, it looks like you will have to wait. Most doctors do that for a very good reason. They just don't have the time to spend explaining it all and answering all the questions.
But I certainly understand your anticipation and desire to hit the road running with a plan then. I was the same way.
If you have already requested a copy from your doctor's office and told you have to wait, that appears to be the deal.
If your doctor is lyme friendly, you won't be dropped. S/he will know enough that whatever the tests say, some progression will follow. One hint: I would avoid the word: "ANXIOUS" as that may set you up with that label.
If you say "eager" to see the results, just the change of that one word can change the way those in the doctor's office see you.
Remember that your doctor may need time to think of the next step, too. You might refresh your memory of choices by going through some of your literature and get questions ready . . . and be sure to take in Dr. C's Western Blot explanation:
In fact, if you think your doctor would take this okay - copy it and send with a note such as this to your doctor:
"I understand that the Igenex tests results are in and I'd sure love to see a copy if it might be easy for you to send before our appt. next week. This way I can prepare my questions for the best use of our appointment time.
I thought this page might help if there are any questions. . . ."
--
Just a thought. But, you should first weigh very carefully your doctor's demeanor and how the note would be received. You really need this doc on your team.
Treat yourself to something fun or nurturing in the meantime.
Thank you for all the advice!! I did send doc an email requesting the results be faxed to me and actually told them I could interput the results.
Ha, yup Jaimie is a dr now! I feel like a doc along with all of you. Hey if my experience saves someone else going through this hell, it will put a smile on my face.
One thing this disease cant do is take my sense of humor and my spirit to love away. I may not always be the most pleasant person to be around especially when I am tired but thats not all the time.
Thanks again!!

Hi Jamie,
Do you already have a follow-up appointment scheduled for next week?
I can only imagine how anxious you are.
Sending good thoughts your way.

Yes, this does teach patience which I have always had. Ha, being a single mother of two boys teaches you a hec of alot of patience and dealing with an uncooperative sperm donor!!
With that all being said, I do find myself a little inpatient now that I am FINALLY seeing the light that I longed for along time ago.
I have waited all this time though so if its another week then so be it. A week is closer than a year or ten!

Yes, when I went in for my inital app and had my blood drawn, I set up an app for the 11th. The kind staff there told me it was wise to go ahead and make the app since he books up with lyme patients.
I am now sitting here eating a bag of reeces peices and I dont even like chocolate! I am getting more down my shirt then I am my mouth though. Whatever works though, huh?
Thank you for the good thoughts! I will be sure to post results as soon as I have them!! Keep your fingers crossed that they dont make me wait!

Hi again Jaimie,
That's good you already have your appointment set up. I was wondering how that worked.
I have my first LLMD appt. on March 17, and like you I am anxiously awaiting a diagnosis and a plan.
LOL! I thought I was the only person in the world who doesn't like chocolate. I'll take salt over sweets any day.
Please keep us posted.

Oh yea Salt is my best friend. I love me some salt!!
Its funny because when I was preggers with my first, all I ate was sweets. (keep in mind I dont like them). I ate so much, I gained 78 lbs!! He dislikes any kind of chocolate.
My other son, loves chocolate and all I ate was salty foods with him.
I know thats way off topic but I thought I would share.
Have you got the WB test done yet?

Jaimie,
I had an ELISA done and it was negative, but I completely think the results were wrong.
My new LLMD sends his blood work to Igenex so that gives me a huge level of comfort.

Hahaha Jaimie, you are so funny! Reeses cups sound good...my husband's fav, although he will eat reeses pieces too.
The waiting is the WORST! Can you see if you can go to your doctor's office, sign a release form and get your own copy? We usually do that with our labs.
Good luck, let us know how they read when you get them!!!

I got in trouble actually. I confess the reeces were my brother's. I knew where his stash was so I grabbed them while he was out to lunch.
He then came back into my office holding the near empty bag and asked if I had been hungry. Oooops, ha!!

Sorry, I didn't mean to blow the whistle but I thought that you might not know and I'd hate for you to sabotage your healing.
And, hey, the only way I got my master's thesis finished was with multiple bags of peanut M & M's. I reasoned that at least they contain protein.
I did not know it then but lyme was a huge player in my brain fog and fatigue. I'm sure the sugar was not good for me but, at that time, a one-year degree had taken me four years and I was on a deadline or I'd would have been dropped from the university all together.
I'm glad to say that in 25 years since that time, I have found other things to help. Ashwaganda and Siberian Ginseng are the two best for gentle energy support.

Still waiting everyone. The nurse (Bless her I heart, I love this woman) emailed me back and said they were very busy.
The doc hadnt had time to review it. I told her I would be working a little later and she could fax it over anyways. Does the doc have to review it before he sends it to me?
Geez, someone just needs to punch me right now.
Oh yea, this has moved into my right arm and shoulder. So both shoulders and arms are hurting. WONDERFUL!!

You asked: ". Does the doc have to review it before he sends it to me?"

Jamie, I know exactly what you are going through. When I was tested for lyme, I did not think I had it, until the next day. I was just sitting there, and thinking, oh my God, the doc is right, I have lyme. I called Igenx every day, for 10 days, then finally, they had the restults, but would not give it to me, I went to the docs office, and finally he read it, and the DOC was an idiot. He saw "Positive" on the report, and told me I might really have lyme. How about that? So, I was freaking out, pacing, crying, ripping my hair out. Went to another so called llmd doc, who was not my type of llmd, so another 2 weeks of agony, then finally, I found a great llmd, turns out I have to go out of town to get a great llmd, and finally, relaxation, a sigh of relief...after being called crazy by everyone. So, I know how it is, probably all of us do, once you find a great llmd, you will feel more relaxed. Jenin
